It is especially imprtant that these third-party prducts are installed in a way that is cmpatible with the prducts and technlgies mentined in this dcument. Thse prducts that are described as supprted in this dcument are supprted nly as lng as the respective manufacturers ffer standard supprt fr that prduct. Even if a prduct is described as supprted in this dcument, it is n lnger supprted, if the date mentined in the dcument Retired 3rdparty prduct supprt is reached. Sftware Requirements OMNITRACKER Client Windws Vista with SP2, Windws 7 with SP1, Windws Server 2008 SP2, Windws Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windws Server 2012, Windws Server 2012 R2, Windws 8, Windws 8.1 r Windws 10³. (Bth 32-bit and 64-bit clients are prvided. 32-bit clients are supprted n 64-bit perating systems. Use f 32-bit client is recmmended. Hme editins are nt supprted.) Micrsft.NET Framewrk Versin 4.0, Versin 4.5 with KB (n Windws 7 with SP1, Windws Server 2008 with SP2, Windws Server 2008 R2 with SP1, and Windws Vista with SP2) r KB (n Windws 8 r Windws Server 2012), Versin 4.5.1, r Versin Please nte that a full installatin (as ppsed t a client prfile) is required. If yu want t integrate the Outlk address bk with the OMNITRACKER client, Outlk 2013 with the same bitness must be installed n the client PC. Micrsft Excel 2013 r Micrsft Excel 2016 must be installed, if yu want t imprt data frm Excel. Micrsft Wrd 2013 r Micrsft Wrd 2016 must be installed, if yu want t use the mail merge feature. The OMNITRACKER Windws client can be run n Windws terminal servers. Any supprted Windws server versin can be used, but it is recmmended t use at least Windws Server 2008 R2 with SP 1 and Vista clients with SP2 fr ptimum perfrmance. The OMNITRACKER Windws client can be run n Citrix (XenApp) servers. At least Citrix Presentatin Server 4.5 with FP1 is required. Make sure t cnfigure the Citrix server fr ptimum WPF perfrmance accrding t Citrix s recmmendatins. OMNITRACKER supprts the fllwing databases: Built-in Micrsft Jet database. Please nte that this is nt supprted in an OMNITRACKER Multi Server Architecture (MSA) cluster. When using a 64-bit OMNITRACKER server we advise against the usage f this type f database due t perfrmance lsses resulting frm the cmmunicatin between the 64- bit server and the 32-bit Micrsft Jet. Oracle Standard r Enterprise Editin versins The Oracle client sftware must have the same versin number as the server. Oracle Standard r Enterprise Editin versins with patchset 10 r newer. The Oracle client sftware must have the same versin number as the server. Please nte that it is nt supprted withut patchset 10. SQL Server 2012 with SP2 Standard and Enterprise Editins (with Native Client 11.0 with SP2) r SQL Server Micrsft Excel 2013 r Micrsft Excel 2016 must be installed, if yu want t imprt data frm Excel in server-side actins. Micrsft Wrd 2013 r Micrsft Excel 2016 must be installed, if yu want t use the mail merge feature in server-side actins. Versin Cmpatibility Yu must install cmpatible versins f OMNITRACKER clients and server. Usually, this means that clients and server must have the same versin number (unless specified therwise in the OMNITRACKER Release Ntes). This als applies t the OMNITRACKER Develpment Envirnment. If yu installed 64-bit OMNITRACKER server it is als pssible t install and use 32-bit OMNI- TRACKER clients n ther cmputers which shall cnnect t instances f the OMNITRACKER server. All ther cmpnents ( Gateway, Web Gateway, and s n) must have the same versin number as the OMNI- TRACKER server. OMNITRACKER Gateway Windws Server 2008 with SP2, Windws Server 2008 R2 with SP1, Windws Server 2012, r Windws Server 2012 R2 are supprted. ( 32-bit and 64-bit versins f the Gateway are available. The 32-bit Gateway is supprted n 64-bit perating systems.) Mail server: An server prviding Internet prtcls (SMTP, IMAP4 and/r POP3) r MAPI must be available. When using the MAPI prtcl, certain advanced functinalities f OMNI- TRACKER cannt be used. When using MAPI Outlk 2013 must be installed n the OMNITRACKER server cmputer. Only 32-bit versins f Outlk are sup-prted using the 32-bit versin f OMNI-TRACKER. Using the 64- bit versin f OMNITRACKER nly 64-bit versins f Outlk are supprted. ODBC Data Imprt Fr ODBC data imprt, thse data bases are supprted that can be used as back-end database fr the OMNITRACKER server. (See page 4.) Exceptin: Micrsft Jet is nt supprted via ODBC; there is a dedicated Micrsft Jet (MDB) imprt instead. In additin, MySQL is supprted as an imprt surce. Data Exprt t External Databases Fr data exprt t external databases, thse data bases are supprted that can be used as backend database fr the OMNITRACKER server. Page 4 f 14

When using a 64-bit OMNITRACKER server large server-side exprt and reprting tasks shuld be avided, because the cmmunicatin between the 64-bit server and the 32-bit Micrsft Jet prcesses is very slw. Interface Bus The Interface Bus supprts the fllwing systems: Micrsft Exchange Server Micrsft SharePint baramundi Management Suite SAP Slutin Manager 4.0 with activated service desk. Windws Server 2008 with SP2, Windws Server 2008 R2 with SP1, Windws Server 2012, r Windws Server 2012 R2 are supprted. (32-bit and 64-bit servers are available. 32-bit servers are supprted n 64-bit perating systems.) The functin BmsGw.FillClientInf and the client details view f the ITSM Center reference integratin require Internet Explrer 9.0 r higher and supprted as brwser fr the Web Gateway (see chapter OMNITRACKER Web Gateway) t be installed. BPMN Standalne Mdeler A cmpatible versin f the OMNITRACKER client r the OMNITRACKER server must be installed. Usually, this means that client/server and the BPMN Standalne Mdeler must have the same versin number. OMNITRACKER Telephny Integratin The OMNITRACKER Windws client can be integrated with TAPI 2.x cmpliant telephny systems. A TAPI 2.x cmpliant driver must be installed n each machine n which the OMNITRACKER Windws client is running. Nn-TAPI cmpliant telephny systems can be integrated by using OMNITRACKER s COMbased Telephny Integratin Interface. (See the Administratr s Guide fr mre infrmatin.) OMNITRACKER Web Gateway Web Server Windws Server 2008 with SP2, Windws Server 2008 R2 with SP1, Windws Server 2012, r Windws Server 2012 R2 are supprted. (The Web Gateway can be used with 32-bit r 64-bit OMNITRACKER servers; the Web Gateway settings need t be adapted t the used OMNI- TRACKER server bitness). OMNISCAN Inventry Scanner The OMNISCAN inventry scanner can run n the fllwing perating systems: Windws Server 2008 with SP2, Windws Server 2008 R2 with SP1, Windws Server 2012, r Windws Server 2012 R2 are supprted. (32-bit and 64-bit versins f OMNISCAN are available. 32-bit OMNISCAN is supprted n 64-bit perating systems.) The scanner can scan all Windws PCs that fulfill the fllwing requirements: Windws Management Instrumentatin (WMI) is installed and active. (WMI is pre-installed n Windws Server 2003 and higher.) The Remte Registry Service is active. If a firewall is present, it must allw WMI and Remte Registry cmmunicatin. Mre than ne inventry scanner can be installed in the netwrk. The scanner can run n a different machine than the OMNITRACKER server. OMNITRACKER Web Service Windws Server 2008 SP2, r Windws Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windws Server 2012, r Windws Server 2012 R2 are supprted. (32-bit and 64-bit versins f the Web Service are available. Fr Windws Server 2008, the IIS 6 cmpatibility mdules must be installed. 64-bit specifics Fr OMNITRACKER client and server nt nly 32-bit but als 64-bit versins exist. The behaviur is almst the same as the 32-bit versins. Fllwing sme specifics are listed. Fr the mst use cases we recmmend t use the 32-bit versins f the OMNITRACKER client even if the 64-bit server is used t avid prblems r perfrmance lss caused by the pssible use f external cmpnents which are nt ptimised fr 64-bit. When using Terminal Server we recmmend t use the 64 bit versin f the OMNITRACKER client. When using a 64 bit OMNITRACKER server we advise against the use f MS Jet Engine (mdb) as database type due t perfrmance lsses resulting frm the cmmunicatin 64-bit server and the 32-bit Micrsft Jet. If CrystalReprts shuld be used and a 64-bit OMNITRACKER Server is chsen, the administratr must manually set the crrect user accunt fr the "OT-Crystal Rep." COM+ service. It has t be identical t the user accunt used fr the OMNITRACKER service. The reprt type "HTML with preview" is unavailable while using a 64-bit versin f the Web Gateway. Running the OMNITRACKER end-user-client in 64-bit mde the reprt viewer is pened in an external prgram instead f a dcument pane like it is the case in 32-bit mde. When using MAPI fr the Gateway there are dependencies based n the bitness. Only 32- bit versins f Outlk are supprted using the 32-bit versin f OMNITRACKER. Using the 64- bit versin f OMNITRACKER nly 64-bit versins f Outlk are supprted. Please be infrmed that n frms in a 64-bit OMNITRACKER client nly 64-bit ActiveX cntrls may be used In the Web Gateway cnfiguratin there is a new prperty "64-bit supprt". If 64-bit Autmatin Interface is installed n the Web server and the IIS applicatin pl f the Web Gateway is running in 64-bit mde this prperty must be checked. It must be unchecked if the Web Gateway is running in 32-bit mde. Please nte: Upgrading frm 32-bit t 64-bit versins and vice versa is nt supprted. Yu have t uninstall the existing OMNITRACKER versin befrehand. Please be infrmed that the "Dashbard" client part nly exists fr the 32-bit versin. If yu want t use it please use the 32-bit versin. Minimum Hardware Requirements This sectin describes the minimum requirements t run OMNITRACKER at a reasnable speed and gives recmmendatins f hw t increase system perfrmance. Please nte that OMNITRACKER can run n slwer systems but a drp belw the reasnable perfrmance threshld is t be expected (fr a mre detailed definitin f what can be cnsidered speed see Dimensining f the OMNITRACKER Applicatin and Database Server belw) Unless nted therwise, the specified hardware requirements d nt describe a system cnfiguratin that allws OMNITRACKER t perfrm at ptimal speed. Since OMNITRACKER is an applicatin which may be highly custmized and the cnfiguratin schema may strngly affect the resurce utilizatin (CPU, memry, disk, netwrk, ) it is impssible t recmmend hardware sizing t ptimize perfrmance fr specific cnfiguratins and lad prfiles withut further analysis. Server Dimensining The minimum hardware requirements depend n the usage scenari fr OMNITRACKER. Yu must take int accunt the maximum number f cncurrent users, and the user actin frequency (UAF). User actin frequency (UAF) means the average number f actins a user perfrms per minute. A typical mix f actin types is given in the Applicatin Server and Database Server sectins. Fr less than 100 cncurrent users, yu usually btain the maximum perfrmance if applicatin server and database server are running n the same machine. This requires that the machine is sized in a frm that it can accmmdate bth Page 9 f 14

10 servers; furthermre, the database server must be cnfigured in a frm that it leaves enugh main memry fr the OMNITRACKER server and the perating system. If yu want t separate applicatin and database servers, yu shuld make sure that bth servers are cnnected via a MBIT/s link. Belw yu can find dimensining suggestins fr applicatin and database server. If yu intend t use nly a single server, please add up CPU Passmark rating, RAM sizes, and hard drive requirements respectively. Dimensining f the OMNITRACKER Applicatin and Database Server The fllwing infrmatin is based n the benchmark rating calculated by the Passmark tl PerfrmanceTest 7.0 ( With this mix f actin types and the server dimensins given, a reasnable minimum perfrmance culd be achieved fr peak-time user actin frequencies (6 actins per user per minute): A server respnse time (nt cunting client-side prcessing) f less than 3s fr at least 80% f all user actins. (1) Please nte that it is assumed that nly typical actins are perfrmed. Atypical actins are cmplex actins such as reprt generatin, mdifying many bjects at nce (e.g. via scripting), accessing external systems etc. Dimensining f the OMNITRACKER Applicatin Server Cncurrent Users <= UAF (1) CPU Passmark Rating RAM size 4 GByte 4 GByte 4 GByte Hard drive: OT system files 1 GBytes (OT system files) + usage dependent space fr full text search index and attachments. There shuld be three separate hard drives fr 1) The Operating system, We recmmend the fllwing dimensins fr yur 2) The full text search index, server fr a given number f cncurrent users 3) and the attachments. and a given User actin frequency. 13 Netwrk Cnfiguratin (OMNI- TRACKER) OMNITRACKER uses TCP/IP fr cmmunicatin. Recmmend bandwidths: Fr Windws Client cnnectins, a bandwidth f at least 128 kbit/s per user is recmmended. The netwrk latency shuld nt be higher than 50 ms. Fr Web Client cnnectins, a bandwidth f at least 256 kbit/s per user is recmmended. When perating OMNITRACKER using Terminal Services r Citrix Metaframe, a bandwidth f at least 256 kbit/s per user is recmmended. Fr security reasns, OMNITRACKER applicatins are digitally signed; when they are started, an Internet cnnectin t a certificate revcatin list server is created t ensure the validity f the signature. This check des nt happen, if Windws detects that there is n Internet access. In very rare circumstances, a Windws system might be cnfigured in such a way that it des nt crrectly detect that the current user has n Internet access. In this case, starting OMNI- TRACKER applicatins (e.g. the Windws client) might take up t several minutes. In rder t avid that, either grant Internet access t all users, r suppress the certificate checking using a cnfig file (see fr details). Netwrk Cnfiguratin (OMNI- TRACKER Multi Server Architecture) Cluster-Internal Netwrk When using OMNITRACKER in a Multi-Server Architecture setup, a dedicated high-bandwidth (1 Gbit/s r better), lw-latency (<< 1ms) netwrk is required fr inter-server cmmunicatin. Fr a 2 nde cluster, this can be a direct link; fr three r mre ndes, additinal netwrking hardware (switches etc.) is required. Strage When using OMNITRACKER in a Multi Server Architecture setup, several file system areas need t be shared between the cluster ndes and must therefre be available thrugh the netwrk (usually n a NAS), namely: The full-text search index files, The queue files, And the attachments files. Recmmendatins fr Remte Desktp When running the Windws client n a Windws terminal server, the fllwing recmmendatins apply t the remte desktp clients: On Windws Vista and Server 2003, yu shuld install the remte desktp cnnectin 7.0 client update (available frm Micrsft s dwnlad site). Fr small-bandwidth cnnectins, select the apprpriate cnnectin speed in the remte desktp client. Fr high-latency cnnectins (>= 100ms rund-trip), select the apprpriate cnnectin speed in the remte desktp client (e.g. Satellite (2 kbits-16mbps with high latency) ). Set the clur depth t 16 bit. Disable all checkbxes (e.g. fnt smthing, visual styles, etc.) except Persistent bitmap caching. D nt use large windws sizes. Use the smallest windw size that still allws yu t wrk efficiently. Netwrk Cnfiguratin (OMNIS- CAN) OMNISCAN uses TCP/IP fr cmmunicatin. OMNISCAN transfers apprximately 2-3 MBytes f data between the scanned PC and OMNI- SCAN. Virtualized Hardware OMNITRACKER server and client cmpnents can be used with virtualized hardware r virtualized perating systems (VMWare, Micrsft Virtual Server, Hyper-V). In rder t ensure reasnable perfrmance, the virtualized envirnment must meet the same Passmark requirements as nn-virtualized hardware.
