Students will use grids to help them complete or enlarge an image. 1. Distribute worksheets. 2. Explain directions and give helpful hints for completing the assignment. (Hints: draw in pencil first, look at the picture block by block, etc.) 3. Have students complete and color worksheets. 4. Turn in drawings for teacher evaluation. Collect student drawings and have students vote for their favorite. Award a prize to the class winner. TIPS Success: for Students often enjoy sitting in small groups and talking quietly while they work on their drawings. If a group gets too noisy they can always be separated. These worksheets can be copied back to back and students can choose which one they would like to complete. Students who finish early can then turn the paper over and begin working on the other activity. Determine the specific details of the project to be assigned. In this activity students will be asked to complete a sketch for a construction project. The details, specifications, areas of emphasis, difficulty level, and nature of the project will be determined by the teacher. 8 Procedures: 1. Make sure all students are equipped with paper and pencils. 2. Explain the nature of the assignment, details of the construction project, and set a time limit. Example: Today s assignment is to complete a sketch for a new resort hotel to be built in Las Vegas. The International Boating Association wants to develop a boat-themed resort featuring a 300-room hotel, swimming pool, tropical aquarium, large sand box, and outdoor restaurant. The resort wants to become the place for families to stay in Las Vegas. Your preliminary sketches need to be turned in by the end of the class and will be evaluated on the creativity of incorporating the boat theme into the design. Distributing copies of the instructions or outlining key information on the board will eliminate the need for repeating the details of the assignment over and over again. 3. Monitor student work. 4.
