9 Operting instructions Operting instructions These operting instructions describe your hndset nd its functions on your communictions system. All functions tht cn be performed vi your hndset re described here. If some of the required functions re not vilble on your hndset, it my be due to one of the following: The function is not configured for you or your hndset - plese contct your system dministrtor. Your communictions pltform does not feture this function - plese contct your Siemens contrct prtner to upgrde. Conducting clls the bsic functions You cn use your hndset to mke both internl nd externl clls. Internl clls re clls tht you mke within the rnge of communiction system, for exmple, within your compny, you mke between networked communiction systems, for exmple, to different compny loctions. Externl clls re clls tht you conduct with users of the public telephone network. 1

PIN If the defult PIN hs not been chnged (0000), the hndset is redy for opertion s soon s it is switched on. If PIN ws set, it must be entered before the hndset cn be operted. Displying the connection qulity The strength of the incoming signl is displyed by the "receive field strength" icon in on or messge sttus: No receive field strength Ò Ñ Ð The rdio rnge is different indoors nd outdoors ( pge 111). Plese consult your system dministrtor in the event of rnge problems. Chrging btteries The hndset chrges when sitting in the chrging shell, even when dectivted. The chrging sttus is shown on the disply. If the hndset dectivtes becuse the btteries re flt, it utomticlly rectivtes nd is redy for opertion s soon s you plce it in the chrging shell. The chrging opertion strts. If PIN ws set, it must be entered first to llow chrging to strt. Lnguge Low receive field strength 50% receive field strength 100% receive field strength If your preferred lnguge for the disply texts is not set, you cn set this yourself ( pge 18). 2

12 Conducting clls the bsic functions Dilling n emergency number Your hndset lets you dil the emergency number sved even when your keypd is locked. The emergency number is set to "112" by defult. You cn chnge the emergency number ( pge 26). o Enter the emergency number, for exmple, 112. Press the Tlk or Spekerphone Mnul number redil c D or E either: or: The lst ten phone numbers dilled re sved in the redil list. A phone number tht ws dilled severl times is only sved once. Press the Tlk key briefly. The redil list is displyed. Select the required telephone number. Press the Tlk or Spekerphone key briefly. The connection is set up. Open the redil menu. The menu contins the following functions ( pge 36): Automtic Redil Disply Number Copy to Directory Delete Entry Delete List D E Disply Number [ Select the menu item nd confirm. o Chnge or complete the phone number, for exmple, with DDIA. Press the Tlk or Spekerphone key briefly. The connection is set up. 4

The Cllbck function enbles you to contct him s soon s he hngs up or re-uses his telephone. Plese note tht line is signlled s busy when it is being clled by nother user. You cn continue to use your hndset without restriction when cllbck hs been booked. You cn lso send cllbck request s messge ( pge 85). This function cn lso be clled by entering the code ( pge 103). p Cllbck Booking cllbck The number is dilled. You her the busy tone or the user does not nswer. Sve the cllbck request. You receive Cllbck cll You will receive the cllbck, s soon s the user you wnt hs hung up or the first time he uses his telephone. The following ppers on your hndset disply "Cllbck:...". Press the Tlk or Spekerphone key briefly. The connection is set up. Note: Cllbcks re repeted until connection is estblished or until the cllbck is deleted. A hndset cn initite up to five cllbcks nd cn be the destintion for up to five cllbck requests. If these conditions re met, ny further cllbcks re rejected. 5

During the consulttion you cn book cllbck ( pge 5), ctivte cll witing ( pge 65) or override( pge 67). Answering or rejecting cll Answering cll k Your hndset rings ( pge 26). The cller informtion ppers on the disply. The nme nd/or telephone number of the cller cn be displyed. The following options re vilble for nswering cll: The hndset is in the chrging shell: remove the hndset from the chrging shell (functions only if "Auto Answer" is ctive pge 26). The hndset is not in the chrging shell. Press the Tlk key or Spekerphone When you hve nswered the cll you cn trnsfer the cll ( pge 68), plce the cll on hold nd consult with someone else in the room ( pge 70), plce the cll on hold nd cll second prtner ( pge 6) in order to forwrd ( pge 68) or toggle the cll ( pge 70) or to set up conference ( pge 71). Rejecting cll Reject cll If you do not wish to be disturbed, you cn reject the cll. Confirm the messge displyed with one of the two disply keys. The cll is rejected nd the cller hers the busy tone. 7

This is lso possible when you re conducting cll. Prerequisite: You her tht telephone in your cll pickup group is ringing. Press nd hold down the Tlk The messge "Cll for:" ppers on the disply. Cll the system menu. > < Group Pickup? [ Select the menu item nd confirm. p Conduct the cll. or k Ending cll Press the On-hook key briefly or plce the hndset in the chrging shell. The cll chrges re displyed, depending on the communiction system. Forwrding clls This function is for when you leve your desk for while nd wnt certin clls to be forwrded to your new loction. The forwrding destintion for internl clls cn be ny internl or externl phone number. The destintion number is usully n externl phone number becuse you cn be reched internlly nytime by mens of your hndset. Activting cll forwrding Press nd hold down the Tlk key or press the Spekerphone Cll the system menu. > < Forwrding on? [ Select the menu item nd confirm. either: > < 1=ll clls? The keypd lock turns off utomticlly when cll comes in nd turns bck on when the cll hs ended. # Press the hsh key until the ctivtion or dectivtion is confirmed by crescendo tone sequence. A key icon on the disply indictes tht keypd lock is ctive. Note: You cn dil pre-progrmmed emergency number when the keypd is locked. Leving the rdio network After leving the rdio network The bse nme flshes on the disply. The hndset repetedly ttempts to synchronise with bse. The intervls between synchronistion ttempts increse on ccount of the integrted power sving function. You cn switch off your hndset to sve the bttery. 10

When the key is llocted two functions, press the right or left side of the key to select the corresponding function. Disply key ssignment depends on the operting sttus. Inserting the btteries The hndset is supplied with two pproved btteries. The btteries re supplied unchrged. They re chrged in the hndset. Note: Note: Plese observe the sfety notes on the bck cover. Only use pproved btteries ( pge 17). Alwys replce both btteries t the sme time nd only use two btteries of the sme type/ from the sme mnufcturer! Open the bttery comprtment in dust-free environment only. Your telephone directory entries nd ll settings remin stored even if you remove the btteries. The dte nd time settings will be reset. Only remove the btteries if they re defective. Any unnecessry removl of the btteries reduces their lifespn. Opening the bttery comprtment Press down on the ridged surfce nd slide the cover from the bttery comprtment. Inserting the btteries Insert the pproved btteries mking sure tht the poles re fcing the right directions s indicted. Closing the bttery comprtment Put the cover bck in plce nd slide it onto the bttery comprtment until it engges. 15

24 Putting the hndset into service Chrging nd using the btteries To chrge the btteries, insert the hndset into the chrging shell with the keypd fcing forwrds. Attention: Only use the relevnt pproved power supply units for operting the chrging shell (for order numbers see pge 111). The chrging sttus is indicted by the chrge sttus disply. This flshes during chrging: = Btteries empty e V U Note: Btteries 33% chrged Btteries 66% chrged Btteries 100% chrged Initil chrging: Chrge the btteries for t lest 5 hours without brek, regrdless of the chrging sttus icon. Without replcing it in the chrging shell, use the hndset until the "bttery low" beep is herd. This ction ligns the chrge sttus disply with the operting times of the btteries. To ttin full operting nd chrging times ( pge 16): Without replcing it in the chrging shell, use the hndset until the "bttery low" beep is herd. For future chrging: you cn plce your hndset in the chrging shell ech time it is used. Chrging is electroniclly controlled which ensures tht the btteries re chrged optimlly. A different lnguge cn be set for every hndset on the system. Press nd hold down the Tlk key or press the Spekerphone Cll the system menu. > < Service? Setting the speker volume p either: E or: G You cn djust the speker volume during cll. The following volumes re djustble: Volume in hndset mode. Three volume levels re possible. Volume in spekerphone mode. Five volume levels re possible. You cn only chnge the spekerphone volume if the spekerphone is ctive ( pge 33). You re on cll. Open the menu for setting the volume. The volume menu for either hndset mode or spekerphone mode is displyed. Open the menu if the upper side of the Control key is progrmmed with nother function, for exmple, when toggling. You do not need to mnully dil phone number. For this function, you will need to record voice pttern, in other words, your voice sying the nme will be sved in the hndset. You cn sve up to 29 voice ptterns for telephone directory entries. Recording voice pttern for n existing telephone directory entry You should record your voice pttern in quiet environment. There should be bout 25 cm between you nd the hndset. The voice pttern cn be up to 1.5 seconds long. Note: If you perform voice dilling minly over hedset, we recommend recording the voice pttern vi the hedset. Open the hndset s telephone directory.
