1 Temporary parental for care of children [Tillfällig föräldrapenning vid vård av barn] Children are often ill. This is what temporary parental is for. You can receive temporary parental for children under the age of 12. Special rules apply for children who are younger than 240 days. Unlike ordinary parental, temporary parental can be transferred to someone other than a parent in certain cases. When is temporary parental available? The ordinary carer is ill or contagious. The ordinary carer is the person who normally takes care of the child while you are working, for example, another parent, a childminder or a relative. The other parent must accompany another of the family s children to a doctor. You are going to visit the child health clinic [barnavårdscentralen] or another child health facility such as a dentist or the child and adolescent psychiatry clinic (BUP). You can also receive temporary parental when you, as parent, visit an institution with a sick or disabled child, such as habilitation, special school or the like. Furthermore, you can receive temporary parental to take part in a course arranged by a hospital principal, for example, the county council. You cannot receive temporary parental for care of a child if you are at home with the child because the pre-school or school is closed. How many days can I draw? [Hur många dagar kan jag ta ut?] Parents can receive temporary parental for at most 120 days per child and year. However, after 60 days, you can no longer receive in the event of the illness or contagion of the ordinary carer. 1 (5)

Childcare allowance [Vårdbidrag] and temporary parental [Vårdbidrag och tillfällig föräldrapenning] If you receive childcare allowance for the child, you cannot receive temporary parental for the same care and supervision requirement that you already receive childcare allowance for. Who is eligible for temporary parental? [Vem kan få tillfällig föräldrapenning?] Parents of children under the age of 12 can receive temporary parental. Temporary parental can also be paid to the person who lives with a parent a foster home parent (previously foster parent) the person or persons who receive a child with a view to adoption another person who has legal custody of the child. 3 There are also some situations when another person can receive temporary parental to take care of your child when you are ill even if you would not have worked then. This is called extended parental and is mainly intended for lone parents. Extended parental can be paid until the child turns three. There is no demand that the child should also be ill. How much temporary parental can you receive? You can receive temporary parental for at most five days during a seven-day period. This normally does not matter if you work a five-day week. However, if you have other working hours, it may mean in certain cases that you cannot receive temporary parental for a day on which you would have worked. However, he is ill again on Thursday. stays at home and requests temporary parental. can now receive temporary parental for Friday and for Saturday as well but not for Sunday as he will then have already had temporary parental for five days during a sevenday period. He can then receive temporary parental again on Monday and Tuesday the following week. However, on Wednesday he will reach the five-day threshold again and cannot receive temporary parental. If the ordinary carer is ill, this should also be certified by a certificate or statement from a doctor from and including the eighth day. Special rules for children younger than eight months (240 days) [Speciella regler för barn yngre än åtta månader (240 dagar)] You can only receive temporary parental for children younger than eight months (240 days) if the child has been admitted to hospital or if the child has a permanent day care place and you need to stay at home from work to look after the child. This means, for example, that if a parent who is at home with the child is so ill that he or she cannot take care of the child that the other parent cannot draw temporary parental to look after the child. However, the other parent can draw ordinary parental.
