3 BODY SYSTEMS: HEALTHY Hormones GI Detox

TYPE 1: TYPICAL COURSE OF H. PYLORI Hormone System Increased cortisol Decreased immune Response in stomach tissue/low HCL Usually precipitated by one of the following events: -death in family -divorce -overwork Digestive System H. Pylori acquired TOXINS Detox System Nutrient Depletion, esp. A.A.

SYMPTOM CLUSTERS Patients relate to clusters of symptoms (i.e. fatigue, heartburn, bloating), not to body systems or process at work Symptoms change over time and may not parallel original problem Key points - how do you uncover the origin of their health problem, the two most important questions to ask every patient

CORRECT BODY SYSTEMS IN ORDER THAT PROBLEMS OCCUR Correct Adrenal Hormones -Stress management -Healing diet -Spiritual/emotional -Exercise -Sleep Correct GI Nutrient replacement -amino acids -EFAs, -minerals Detox/Nutrient Replacement -treat h. pylori -support stomach repair with: Mastica GI repair products Probiotics - replace missing nutrients esp. amino acids

CAUSES OF STRESS Emotional Dietary Pain & hidden inflammation

FUNCTIONS OF CORTISOL REGULATES SIgA PRODUCTION IN GI TRACT LINING Counters inflammation & allergies Promotes burning of body fat Maintains mood and emotional stability

STEROID HORMONE PATHWAYS Acetyl CoA B5 Cholesterol Progesterone Pregnenolone 17α - Hydroxylation 17 - Hydroxyprogesterone 17- Hydropregnenolone 11 - Deoxycortisol Androstenediol Testosterone Dehydro - epiandrosterone Androstenedione Cortisol 5α - Dihydro - testosterone 19 - Hydroxy - testosterone 19 - Hydroxy - androstenedione Cortisone Estradiol - 17α Estrone Estradiol - 17β

ADRENAL PRODUCTS These products are used to improve adrenal function and reduce the negative impact of stress on the GI tract to allow for successful eradication of h. pylori and prevent reinfection: DHEA Multi vitamin/mineral Fish Oil

MUCOSAL BARRIER FUNCTION Mucous membranes comprise the primary interface between the external environment and the internal environment of the body Most absorption of nutrients AND toxins occurs across mucous membranes Most pathogens enter the body by binding to and penetrating mucous membranes

SIGA Secretory immunoglobulin A (SIgA): a mucous membrane surface antibody produced by immunocytes in mucous membranes SIgA provides first physical barrier of defense protecting against pathogens (parasites, bacteria, yeast)

GI TRACT TISSUE REPAIR Integrating supplement usage with medical treatments for H. pylori - these products are used to reduce GI tract tissue inflammation so that the H. pylori treatments used can be effective: GI repair powders: glutamine, FOS etc. Anti-inflammatory GI repair - DGL

H. PYLORI Causes damage to stomach lining and reduces stomach acid production Common in patients with heartburn, GERD, abdominal bloating shortly after eating Easily acquired infection, leads to increased risk of ulcers Acquired from food Acquired from kissing

H. PYLORI SYMPTOMS Heartburn/reflux Upper abdominal pain Indigestion Belching Gastritis Duodenal/Peptic Ulcers Constipation Nausea Halitosis Need for digestive enzymes

PRESENTING SYMPTOMS BRETT, 12 YEAR OLD PATIENT Fatigue/depression Unable to attend school Stomach pain Nausea Unable to focus, concentrate or exercise All started after a school picnic

PRESENTING SYMPTOMS JASON, 54 YEAR OLD PATIENT Radiating neck and arm pain, numbness Facing exploratory neck surgery NO GI SYMPTOMS

PRESENTING SYMPTOMS KAY, 35 YEAR OLD PATIENT Daily nausea and vomiting DDX as bulimic Eating disorder confused with infection Problem first started after trip to Mexico

Fatigue Awakened at night with stomach pain Sleep disorder PRESENTING SYMPTOMS DAVID, 22 YEAR OLD PATIENT Neurotransmitter (AA) depletion Connection with blastocystis hominis Problems first started at age one after trip to Caribbean

HELICOBACTER PYLORI Helicobacter pylori is a spiral-shaped bacterium that is found in the gastric mucous layer or adherent to the epithelial lining of the stomach H. pylori causes more than 90% of duodenal ulcers and up to 80% of gastric ulcers Approximately two-thirds of the world's population is infected with H. pylori Infection with H. pylori also causes duodenal and gastric ulcers. Infected persons have a 2- to 6-fold increased risk of developing gastric cancer and mucosal-associatedlymphoid-type (MALT) lymphoma compared with their uninfected counterparts (CDC)

LAB TESTING Breath Test Blood Tests Endoscopic Exams Stool antigen testing

H. PYLORI TREATMENT Treat with prescriptions Support h. pylori treatment with: Mastica Gum, Slippery Elm Probiotics, multi strain, high potency GI Repair powder Glutamine plus There are several prescription regimens that can be used to treat H. Pylori. The most common combination is a PrevPac: amoxicillin, clarithromycin (Biaxin) and Prevacid for 14 days. Other combinations might use metronidazole or tetracycline, or an acid reducer other than Prevacid.

KALISH METHOD TIMELINE Months Gluten free, anti-inflammatory Consultation diet for at least 60 days Adrenal Test (Saliva) - Labs In - Report of Findings First Round Adrenals Second Round Adrenals Stool Test Treatment of H. Pylori (from 1 st stool tests) T Organix Test (Urine) Anti-Candida Program Liver Detox Nutrient Replacement, Esp. AA

H. PYLORI INTEGRATIVE TREATMENT PROGRAM Step 1:Anti-inflammatory/ Digestive System Healing Phase GI repair products, addressing food allergies - 60 days Step 2: Treatment Phase antibiotics to treat, assisted by herbs to cleanse stomach Step 3: Re-colonization with healthy bacteria - 30 days

MASTICA GUM When integrating supplement support with medical treatments for h. pylori, this product is used to reduce GI tract tissue inflammation so that the h. pylori treatments used can be more effective

GI TRACT TISSUE REPAIR Integrating supplement usage with medical treatments for h. pylori - these products are used to reduce GI tract tissue inflammation so that the h. pylori treatments used can be effective: GI Repair powder DGL Replacing healthy bacteria: Probiotics, multi-strain and high potency

STEP 1: HEALING DIET HEALTHY NUTRITION, INCLUDING ADDRESSING FOOD ALLERGIES Start patient on proper diet for two months using one of two methods: Healing diet: eliminating gluten and dairy, and rotating foods Use lab tests to determine specific food allergies, presence of gluten intolerance and leaky gut Start anti-inflammatory repair supplement program

STEP 2: CLEARING STOMACH Antibiotic and herbal protocols Medications used at proper time Mastica Gum to facilitate rapid recovery Treat as appropriate after 60 days of successful adherence to proper diet from Step One

STEP 3: PROBIOTICS AND RECOLONIZATION Re-colonization of intestines with healthy bacteria to encourage GI repair process May need further GI repair supplements to assist complete recovery as well Retest two months after completion of pathogen protocols

GUIDELINES FOR H. PYLORI Test for h. pylori stool antigen/blood antibodies Eliminate pathogen Replace healthy bacteria Retest to verify bugs gone and probiotics have recolonized Repair leaky gut I promise this works
