3 2 Preamble This document supplements the Call Announcement of the co-funded call of the ERA-Net SusAn (please see Call Documents at It provides all the additional information needed to submit a full proposal successfully. The content of the Call Announcement of the Co-funded Call is still valid and must be re-considered before submitting the full proposal as well as the information provided in the Evaluation Guidelines. Applicants should note that core data cannot be changed in full proposals in the second step unless explicitly requested by a Funding Party or the Call Steering Committee. Full proposals that are not complete or contrary to any other formal requirement will not be considered in the second step evaluation.

4 3 Full-Proposal Submission Full-proposals must be submitted online by the research consortium coordinator at by 9th September 2016 (12:00 CEST). Password and username of the account are the same as for pre-proposal submission and all data of the submitted pre-proposal are still available on line. To submit a full proposal successfully, the following actions need to be taken by the Coordinator and the Consortium Partners: Ensure that all partners contact their National/Regional Contact Point (funding party) again to obtain information on any additional national/regional obligations related to the proposal (see Call Announcement - Annex C&D) and to get oral or written approval for the submission of the requested grant. For countries not participating in the call: the respective partner should provide a written confirmation of the financial commitment (to be uploaded in the online system). Check the contact details of all partners participating in the consortium. Check whether the application form in the online system has been filled out completely and accurately and to best knowledge and belief. At any time the coordinator and the project partners can log into the SusAn submission tool by using the account login data in order to check the already provided information. All available and uploaded information will be displayed. According to the rules laid out in the Call Announcement core data provided in the pre-proposal stage cannot be changed in full proposals unless explicitly requested by a Funding Party or the Call Steering Committee. Please note, the publishable summary of all Funded Projects will be published on the ERA-NET SusAn homepage As core data from the pre-proposal cannot be changed in full proposals, unless explicitly requested by a Funding Party or the Call Steering Committee, please contact the SusAn Call Secretariat if you were asked to amend your data.

5 Guidelines for applicants Full proposal amendment Online Submission Data from the pre-proposal (title, research area, acronym, duration, keywords, publishable summary, project aims, implementation plan, societal & ethical aspects, international collaboration, information on partner, financial data) are still available online and will be part of the full proposal application. However, these data have been made read-only with the exception of the finance table. The requested finance table may only be changed if applicants were prompted to do so by a Funding Party /the CSC. Unprompted changes will not be taken into consideration. To complete the application, the following information has to be added /provided for the full proposal by: 9th September :00 CEST. Please complement, where necessary, the information provided in the pre-proposal. Full Proposal Template Project description: Please consider the evaluation criteria for Full proposals stated in the Susan evaluation guidelines while addressing the following sections ( - Background Max. 8,000 characters incl. space characters, max. 3 charts (via image upload (see below)) Detailed background on the project, state-of-the-art in the respective field and the contribution of the project to progress in the field is required here. An explanation of how the project addresses the requirements of the call must be included. - General work plan description Max characters incl. space characters, max. 3 charts (via image upload (see below)) Concept and approach Please describe the innovation potential of the proposal and the appropriateness of the methodology proposed. Project structure and management This part of the description shall include the organizational structure of the project and specify the involvement of each partner. - Work packages

6 Guidelines for applicants Full proposal amendment The individual work packages of the project should contain the following information: work package number work package title start month (i.e. month 9 of the term of project) text field start month has been deleted (Comment Call Secretariat) objectives: description of the objectives of the work package in no more than 1,500 characters incl. space characters description: detailed description of the work package in no more than 4,000 characters incl. space characters partners: who is involved in this work package, how many person months a partner contributes to this work package, if a partner is not involved, the respective box can be left empty person months: e.g. partner XYZ provides 5 months, if a partner is not involved, the respective box can be left empty add tasks: numbering like 1,2,3, etc. and task description (no more than 1,000 characters/task) as well as a start month and end month of each task add milestones: numbering like 1,2,3 etc. and milestone description as well as month this milestone will be reached add deliverables: numbering like 1,2,3 etc., deliverable description and month of delivery - Expected impact, including European added value Max. 8,000 characters incl. space characters Please describe the potential of the project to develop European animal production, the multiactor approach and the added-value of transnational collaboration, as well as the cross-scale impact. - Dissemination plan Max. 4,000 characters incl. space characters Description of the dissemination strategy and/or exploitation of results, capacity building and management of intellectual property at international level. - Related projects Max. 4,000 characters incl. space characters Description of ongoing projects of each partner related to the present proposal, indicating project name, funding sources and amounts, and potential overlaps with the current proposal.

Description of human resources, equipment, subcontracting, travel and other additional costs of planned project, if not already stated in detail in the finance table ( Finances ) or in the Finance Comments. Project partners participating with own resources have to provide a written proof of availability of resources. This should be uploaded in the online system by the coordinator (see below under Document upload). - Gantt chart A Gantt chart will be created automatically by the tool by processing the data depicted in the different work packages - Mobility Max. 2,000 characters incl. space characters Description of planned exchange activities in the project. - Risk and mitigation strategy Max. 4,000 characters incl. space characters - Ethical issues Max. 2,000 characters incl. space characters For this activity ethics is an integral part of research from beginning to end, and ethical compliance is seen as pivotal to achieve real research excellence. The Funding Parties of ERA-NET SusAn will therefore perform and follow up a thorough ethical evaluation from the conceptual stage of the proposal until the final project result based on H2020 Ethics Appraisal Procedure Proposals submitted to ERA-NET SusAn Call mainly touch upon the following ethic issues: - Human beings re. interviews, informed consent - Personal data re. data collection and use thereof - Animals re. robustness and appropriate use of animal trials - Non-EU countries re. exploitation or export of research not allowed in EU - Environment, health & safety re. research that could harm the environment, health or safety - Potential misuse of research results re. consideration of unintended and unwanted outcome. Please indicate if any of the issues above is relevant for your project and how you will deal with it. - Literature references

8 Guidelines for applicants Full proposal amendment Max. 2,500 characters incl. space characters A maximum of 25 literature references related to the project can be listed, either by providing the DOI (digital objective identifier) or naming the author, title, journal, year, volume, pages; etc. - Image upload Max. 6 images (insertion of tables as images) can be uploaded (jpg-file, 600x600px, max.2mb per image). Please use place holder of each image to place it in the editor of background or workplan. - Document upload Upload of (a) document(s) related to the proposal, e.g. written proof of availability of resources (max. 5MB). In case that more than one document has to be uploaded, please merge them to one pdf. This document/pdf has to be uploaded by the Coordinator only. - Factsheet - View your data To view your data and download the file, save/print the full proposal and distribute a copy to partners. - Validation Validation of entries prior to submission, provides a list of still required information, if appropriate. - Submit Transfer of full proposal to the SusAn submission server; until the deadline (9th September :00 CEST) full proposals can be re-submitted several times to transfer up-dates.
