1 Final Paycheck Laws by State Alabama Arizona If discharged, wages must be paid within three working days or the end of the next pay period, whichever is sooner. If a resignation, wages should be paid no later than the regular payday for the pay period during which the resignation occurred. Arkansas All final wages are due within seven days of the date of termination. California If discharged, final wages earned and unpaid are due and payable immediately. If a resignation, final wages are due within 72 hours of quitting. If 72 hours notice is given, payment must be made at quitting time. Colorado If discharged, final wages are due immediately. If a resignation, final wages are due on next regularly scheduled payday. Connecticut If discharged, final wages are due no later than the business day following the discharge. If a resignation, final wages are due no later than the next regular payday. Florida Georgia Idaho Separated employees must be paid their final wages on the next regularly scheduled payday or within 10 days of the layoff or termination, whichever is earlier. Indiana A terminated employee's final paycheck is due at the regular payday for the pay period. If an employee leaves voluntarily, the employer isn't required to pay the employee until the next regular payday established by the employer. Iowa Final wages due no later than the next regular payday.
2 Kansas Final wages due on the next regularly scheduled payday. Kentucky Final wages due no later than the next normal pay period or in 14 days, whichever last occurs. Louisiana Final wages due by next reguar payroll date but not later than 15 days after separation for any reason. Maryland Final wages due by the next regular payday after separation for any reason. Michigan Final wages due as soon as the amount can with due diligence be determined. Minnesota If discharged, final wages are due within 24 hours after demand. If a resignation, final wages are due on the next regular payday Mississippi Missouri Final wages are due and payable on the day of the termination, and employers are required to pay within seven days from the date an employee makes a written request for payment. Nebraska Final wages are due on the next regular payday or within two weeks of the termination. Nevada If discharged, final wages are due immediately. If a resignation, final wages are due no later than the regular payroll day or seven days after resignation, whichever is earlier. New Jersey Final wages must be paid no later than the regular payday for the pay period. New York For discharges and resignations, final wages are due on the next regular payday. No. Carolina Final wages are due on or before the next payday following termination. Ohio Same as wage payment requirements. Employees must be paid by the first day of the month for any work done in the first half of the preceding month and by the 15th

Oklahoma Final wages are due at the next regular designated payday established for the pay period in which the work was performed. Oregon For discharges and terminations by mutual agreement, final wages are due not later than the end of the first business day after discharge or termination. For resignations with 48 hours notice or more, final wages are due on the employee's last working day. For resignations without 48 hours notice, final wages are due within five days. Pennsylvania Final wages are due on the next regular payday. So. Carolina Final wages are due within 48 hours of the time of separation or the next regularly scheduled payday, which may not exceed 30 days. So. Dakota Final wages are due no later than the next regular stated payday. Tennessee Final wages are due no later than the next regular payday or 21 days following, whichever occurs last. Texas For discharges, final wages are due not later than the sixth day after the date of discharge. For all other separations, final wages are due no later than the next regularly scheduled payday. Utah If discharged, final wages are due within 24 hours of separation. If a resignation, final wages must be paid on the next regular payday. Virginia Final wages are due by next regularly scheduled payday. Wisconsin Final wages are due no later than the next regular payday. Exceptions: for separations due to merging, liquidating, disposing of business, ceasing business operations, or relocating, final wages must be paid within 24 hours of time of separation. 8/6/2010
