4 REED MANIPULATION CHANTER REED Take care, when making any adjustments to reeds 1. Always hold chanter reed at the staple as shown. 2. If reed is FLAT lower in reed seat. 3. If reed is SHARP raise in reed seat. 4. If reed CRACKLES a very gentle rub on fine abrasive paper should remedy this effect. DRONE REEDS Each drone reed will have two lines scribed on the surface of the blades indicating an approximate area to set the bridle. 1. REED FLAT: move bridle to make blade shorter 2. REED SHARP: move bridle to make blade longer. 3. REED STOPPING: hold blade where it is attached to body and make several flicks at top of blade. Then try drone reed in pipes to check that it is working further tuning may be required. Note: the drone reeds will stop if mouth blow. 6 1. Fit Reeds into Reed Seats, mouth blow and adjust Drone length until required Tuning is achieved. 2. Refer to Tuning Chart 440hz or slightly above is Permissible Fit Drones into Common Stock 4. 7 5. A fine adjustment to Drone Tuning maybe necessary Mouth blow Chanter achieving 440 Hz or slightly above by raising or lowering Reed in Reed Seat. 7.
