1 Bible Verses Everyone Should Know All of God s Word is profitable and worthy to be known by all. Some verses are more familiar than others and have become favorite verses to many. They are familiar to us because they present truths which are fundamental to Christianity. Because of this, we find ourselves returning over and over again to them. This booklet contains 105 of these familiar verses. Everyone will find them to be profitable. They are truly Bible verses everyone should know King James Version Trinity Bible Church Hillcrest Chapel 2013 Memory groups will meet weekly to recite each assignment. The booklet contains selected Bible verses arranged in 15 assignments with seven or eight verses to be memorized each week. The assignment number and Bible reference should be memorized and recited with each assignment. Those who prefer a shorter assignment may memorize the three verses in each assignment which are marked with the symbol: ~, in this booklet. There is a companion book for small children containing one verse per week. The verses found in the children s book are marked in this book by the symbol: c.

2 Assignment 1 Genesis 1:1 c~ In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Numbers 6: The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: 25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. Deuteronomy 6:4-5 ~ 4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: ~ 5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. Deuteronomy 29:29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

3 Assignment 2 Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Job 19:25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth. Psalm 119:11 c~ Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Proverbs 3:5-6 ~ 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. ~ 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

4 Assignment 3 Isaiah 26:3 c~ Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 40:31 ~ But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 53:6 ~ All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 55: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

5 Assignment 4 Jeremiah 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. Jeremiah 17:9-10 c~ 9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? 10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. Jeremiah 23:29 Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? Lamentations 3:22-23 ~ 22 It is of the LORD s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. ~ 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

6 Assignment 5 Matthew 1:21 c~ And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Matthew 6:33 ~ But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 11: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Mark 10:45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Luke 19:10 ~ For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

7 Assignment 6 John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1: He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 3:16 c~ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 11:25-26 ~ Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: ~ And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

8 Assignment 7 John 13: A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 14:6 c~ Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 15:5 ~ I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 4:12 ~ Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

9 Assignment 8 Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Romans 3:23 c~ For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Romans 5:8 ~ But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 8:28 ~ And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 12:1-2 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

10 Assignment 9 1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 2 Corinthians 5:17 c~ Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 5:22-23 ~ 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, ~ 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

11 Assignment 10 Ephesians 2:8-10 c~ 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: ~ 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. ~ 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 4:6-7 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

12 Assignment 11 Colossians 3: Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. 2 Timothy 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. 2 Timothy 2:15 c~ Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ~ 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: ~ 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.

13 Assignment 12 Hebrews 4:12 ~ For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 7:25 ~ Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 12:1-2 1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 13:8 c~ Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

14 Assignment 13 James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:22 c~ But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 1 Peter 1:3-5 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:18-19 ~ 18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; ~ 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

15 Assignment 14 1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear. 1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit. 1 Peter 5:6-7 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 1 John 1:9 ~ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 2:15 ~ Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. c~ 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

16 Assignment 15 1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 1 John 4:19 c~ We love him, because he first loved us. 1 John 5: And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. Jude ~ 24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, ~ 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
