1 CHAPTER 1 YOUR WORDS HAVE POWER In the introduction to The Law of Confession, Dr. Bill Winston spoke of laws. He said a law is a principle based on the predictable consequences of an act, meaning a certain act will lead to a certain result. And in the kingdom, God s laws, spiritual and natural, cannot be changed because all laws created by God reflect His character and nature. Dr. Winston speaks of his experience in ground school when he was learning to fly. He and his fellow students learned four laws: thrust, gravity, lift and drag. Thrust takes the plane forward, gravity pulls it down, lift moves it up and drag holds it back. These laws always work the same way. They existed in the Garden of Eden, but not until the twentieth century did mankind figure out how these four laws would work together to benefit humans in the form of air travel. Thrust, gravity, lift and drag are physical and natural laws, but the law of confession is one of the spiritual laws that governs this universe and determines our destiny. Because many people have not ideal of the power of their words, they have caused themselves undo hardship. However, Dr. Winston writes that when we believe and speak words that harmonize with what God has already spoken in His Word, we release a force to which everything in the universe has to adjust.
