Noni (Morinda Citrifolia) is a fruit with extraordinary healing properties that most North Americans have never heard of. It's been successfully used for over 2,000 years in Polynesia, China, India and elsewhere. (1) Dr. Neil Solomon, by the end of the 20th Century, was considered a recognized leader in medical nutrition and nutraceuticals, and one the foremost experts on Morinda Citrifolia (Noni). Dr. Neil Solomon is a a New York Times best-selling author, and wrote The Noni Phenomenon and a number of other published works on Noni and its medicinal uses. In his book, The Noni Phenomenon, he writes, "After reviewing the results of the more than 10,000 people using Noni, I have determined that Noni undoubtedly possesses a variety of efficacious medicinal properties that modern medicine cannot ignore." Noni, also known as Indian Mulberry is a small evergreen shrub or tree, usually less than 10 feet high, occasionally up to 20 feet. The conspicuous large dark green shiny leaves are generally paired, except where forming fruit. Thick and oval in shape, they are deep veined, short-stemmed and 8 inches or longer. The flowers form in globular heads, about an inch long and bearing many small white flowers. The flower heads grow to become mature fruit, 3 to 4 inches in diameter. To Polynesians Noni is a valuable plant to have nearby the home of anyone wishing to utilize the many natural healing properties of this remarkable life sustaining plant. In some situations, Noni can allow other medications to act more efficiently. You should tell your health professional that you are taking Noni, as your physician might want to decrease the dose of the medication prescribed. The following is quoted from her article entitled Noni Juice Is It Hot or Is It Not? and published under the Nutrition section of the BellaOnline website. Noni contains a so-called miracle ingredient named proxeronine which is supposed to be a precursor to xeronine. Now, have you ever heard of anyone dying from a deficiency of either proxeronine or xeronine? No, you haven t? Have you ever seen either of these two elements on the RDA list? No? Well, have you ever seen any valid peer review research that proves anything whatsoever about these two ingredients? Of course not! And, more than likely, you never will. There s absolutely NO real science, NO real research and NO real proof NOTHING behind the Noni salesman s hype that his bottles of sugary juice cures arthritis, ulcers, sprains, depression, high blood pressure, menstrual cramps and on and on and on. Noni is supposed to be a juice from the fruit of the Polynesian morinda citrifolia tree. As a fruit, wouldn t it have some nutritional value? After all, it s being marketed as a nutritional product. Let s see. A current independent laboratory test shows only miniscule amounts of B vitamins and virtually none of the antioxidants vitamins A, E, carotenoids and flavonoids. Noni does have some vitamin C, but only 6 mg per serving, which means you d have to drink 10 servings in one day just to get the RDA or minimum daily requirement for vitamin C. Noni also has some protein and calcium. But you d need to consume 22 bottles for your bare minimum grams of protein.

9 So, since there s absolutely no valid research to back any claims for Noni s mystery ingredients and since lab tests prove it has virtually no nutritional value, what does it have? It has the same thing snake oil salesman have been selling for decades SUGAR WATER! Noni Juice is 96% high insulin producing carbohydrates. Then how can they sell so much to so many innocent people? They do it by telling misleading stories about the results they say you can get. The Morinda company says Noni Juice is smart nutrition. I don t think so! If you re really smart, when the Noni Juice salesman gets out his bottles of sugar water, you ll scream, No, No, Noni! Because Noni is a great big NOT! (4) Mr. Stuart Adams from Australia agrees with Ms. Greene and also declares that noni juice is a worthless sugar drink that only "mindless imbeciles" believe has any value whatsoever. I m sure Wallach & Co. just add a Noni juice supplement to their regime for those ignorant suckers who have already been sucked into the Noni juice cult following. Those mindless imbeciles who believe that Noni Juice has some powerful, mystical, magical power, even though conveniently there is absolutely no scientific evidence to back it. I m sure Wallach & Co. know its useless, but hey, whilst ever there are people stupid enough to fall for the Noni juice scam, why not add it in there! Dr. Ralph Heineke, a scientist who used to work for Dole studying pineapples, said he discovered the enzyme. What the enzyme does is unclear, but TNI says the juice helps the body fight disease and infection, increases energy levels and helps cells absorb more nutrients.

10 But McClatchey says there is no such thing as xeronine. "It's bogus, it's made-up words," he says. "I'll stake my reputation on it." Peterson said the company rejects the idea that the juice has no medicinal value. "It is preposterous to think that people would buy and drink our juice for any other reason than the fact that they feel a benefit in doing so," he said.
