11 GAME PHILOSOPHY: OFFENSE 55 different types of Offenses: 1. Middle Set Offense Offense Offense 4. Mixed 4-2/64 2/6-22 Offense Offense Advantages and Disadvantages to each Offense Based on Setter Skills & Ability Based on Passing Skills & Ability Fast-Offense Quick pass (not a high rainbow ) Shoot plays 1 quick middle plays

12 GAME PHILOSOPHY: THE SETTER During Play: Normally ALWAYS plays Position 1 or 2 (Right BACK or Right FRONT) After the first hit ( Pass( Pass ), runs to Position 3 (Middle Front) Must play Defense First If she takes the first pass, Setter Out After the Serve Will go to position 1 or 2 right after serve Watch for Positional Faults Prior to Receive Will Stack other players to get as close to Position 3 Is not a passer when receiving Serve

13 GAME PHILOSOPHY: MIDDLE SET OFFENSE Definition: Position 3 always sets the ball Most Basic Level of Play Adult recreational leagues Lower level play

14 GAME PHILOSOPHY: 4-2 SET OFFENSE Definition: 2 setters, active setter is always in the front row Used most often when: Setter has a small range of movement Bad passing

15 GAME PHILOSOPHY: 6-2 SET OFFENSE GAME PHILOSOPHY: Definition: 2 setters, active setter is always in the BACK row Provides the team with 3 active Front-Row Hitters Usually setter is athletic, always moving from back row to play defense to Position 3 (between 2 & 3) to set (constantly during play)

16 GAME PHILOSOPHY: MIXED 6-2/46 2/4-22 SET OFFENSE Definition: 2 setters, active setter is usually in the Back Row, except for 1 or 2 rotations, or on serve-receive receive Setter comes from front row when a team has issues passing in a particular rotation

17 GAME PHILOSOPHY: 5-1 SET OFFENSE Definition: 1 Setter During the Set Usually a strong setter MUST know where the Setter is (front row/back-row) row)

Discreet Signals from R2 to R1: Discuss VERBALIZE it or THINK it prior to each serve Stacking of feet Others? Remember what might happen when a setter comes front-row row or becomes back-row ## 6, the opposite, serves Team subs Many times, a offense will have a team Double-sub

How can R1 discreetly ask for help? Back row violations How R2 will ask for a card Pancake plays What does a yes or no head nod mean? Ball hit the net, not player Plays behind the R1 (discreet out / touch signal by R2) Signal Sequence..Waiting on R2, signal as a TEAM BE AN OFFICIATING TEAM.. Communicate & work TOGETHER
