1 ASSESMENT POLICY FOR SESSION FOR BEGINNERS (PRE PRIMARY) Classes Nursery, KG and Prep will get Performance Report thrice in Academic Year i.e. August, November and March. Promotion to the next class will be on the basis of the progress of the student and cumulative performance. Performance will be marked in the form of GRADES. No Ranks shall be given. FOR LEARNERS TO FLYERS (I X) FORMATIVE ASSESSMENTS: The form of assessment is Continuous Comprehensive in nature. It measures a learners performance in classroom task oral communication, projects, peerassessment, essays, written assignment(s) and class test(s). Learner s achievement is measured and recorded in the form of marks and reported in the form of Grade and corresponding Percentage. The academic year will be divided into Two Terms and with Two Formatives (Evaluation Cycles) and One Summative Assessment in each term. 2 The Formative Assessment will be conducted by the subject teacher during regular classes. The date for the same will be announced in the class on monthly basis. Each evaluation cycle (FA s) will be of 50 marks weightage: (a) Class/School Assignment marks (b) Project/ Models/ Case Studies/ Research Work/ Experiments/OTBA marks (c) Peer Assignment (Quiz/Field trips/ict/charts/posters etc)/presentations marks (d) Oral Communication/ Worksheets/ Debate/ Elocution/ Recitation etc. marks (e) Written Assignment (class test) marks CO SCHOLASTIC AREAS Co Scholastic Areas, Life Skills, Work Experience, Visual & Performing Art, Attitudes & Values, Literary & Creative Skills, Scientific Skills, Information & Communication Technology (ICT), Organizational & Leadership Skills (Clubs), Health & Physical Activities will also be evaluated. Students of Classes VI X are to choose ANY ONE OPTION out of Music/ Art and Craft/ Theatre towards Visual and Performing Arts. Students of Classes VI X are to opt AT LEAST ONE out of NCC/ Scout/ Guide voluntarily. Students of Classes VI X are to become a member of ANY TWO clubs compulsorily (in Each Term) out of the following: i. Readers Club vii. Babbage Club ii. Udaiman Club viii. Human Rights Club iii. Maths Club ix. Rhythm Club iv. Health & Wellness Club x. Photography Club v. Young Creations Club xi. Mudra Club vi. Eco Club Students of Classes VI X are to choose ANY TWO games out of the following: i. Football iv. Kho Kho ii. Rugby v. Basket Ball (IX X only) iii. Skating vi. Volley Ball (IX X only) SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS: This form of Assessment is a Pen Paper Test of Marks for classes I to VIII. For Classes IX and X, Summative Assessment 1 shall be of marks whereas Summative Assessment 2 shall be of 0 Marks. For Classes I to VIII, 3 marks are retained for Hand Writing. For Classes VI to VIII, marks are reserved for Practical (Mathematics, Science and Social Science, Computers)/ Creative Writing (Hindi)/ Viva (Sanskrit and French). 3 This form of assessment is specific in nature. It measures a learner s understanding of knowledge and concepts taught during classes. Learner s achievement is measured, recorded and reported to parents in the form of Grades and Percentages. The marks obtained for the Summative Assessment will be added to the marks obtained for the Formative Assessments to calculate Final Percentage for the report. For promotion to the next class: (a) The student must get Grade D or more in all the subjects. (b) In case a student secures Grade E in the Final Assessment in one or more subjects, he/she has to improve the performance through ONE ATTEMPT Improvement Test. (c) Student will not be promoted to the next class till he/she obtains Grade D or more in all the subjects. 4 Answer scripts of the Class Tests and Summative Assessment 1 for Class I to VIII will be handed over to the students/ parents. However, answer scripts of Summative 2 will be shown to the parents. For classes IX and X, the Answer Scripts for all Formative Assessments and Summative Assessments shall be shown only to students/ parents. Answer Scripts of Summative 2 in class X will not be shown as per the CBSE instructions. The report of the Summative Assessments will be issued by the school at the end of each term for classes I to IX. However, for class X, Summative Assessment 2 report card shall be issued by the Board (or as per CBSE Guidelines) Any change in the scheme of assessment by CBSE shall be strictly followed. For updates can logon: OPEN TEXT BASED ASSESSMENT (OTBA) (IX & XI) It will be applicable to all main subjects for Classes IX, however for Class XI, OTBA shall be applicable to Economics, Geography and Biology only. This will be a part of Summative Assessment 2 Only (IX and Final Examination XI) The textual material shall be supplied by CBSE Online. Students are advised to download the same from CBSE website The textual material may be in the form of an article, a case study, a diagram, a concept/ mind map, a picture or a cartoon, problem/ situation based on the concepts taught to the students during second term. The question paper in each main subject will have a separate section of marks for Open Text Based Assessment. The Open Text Based Assessment (OTBA) will have questions of Higher Order Thinking Skills and some of which may be subjective, creative and open ended. PROBLEM SOLVING ASSESSMENT (PSA) (IX XII) Problem Solving Assessment (PSA) is conducted compulsorily for Class IX and XI every year as per the CBSE guidelines. However, student may improve their performance of PSA of Class IX or XI in Class X or XII next year i.e. next academic session. PSA consist of a Question Paper of 60 Multiple Choice Questions and is of 2 Hours. PSA Consists of three sections as mentioned below: o Language Conventions 24 Questions o Qualitative Reasoning 18 Questions o Quantitative Reasoning 18 Questions Student of Class X and XII interested in PSA improvement are given same paper of Class IX and XI as the case may be. 5 Score of PSA is counted towards Mathematics, Science and Social Science and English in Formative Assessment 4 of Class IX and X both classes and hence will play a key role in Final Performance of student. All students of class XI and XII will get a Certificate of their score of PSA. ASSESSMENT OF SPEAKING AND LISTENING SKILLS (ASL) (I XI) Assessment of Speaking and Listening Skills shall be carried out in the subject English (I to VIII), English Communicative (IX and X) and English Core (XI), twice in each academic year as per the CBSE guidelines compulsorily. The weightage of marks is as follows: o Listening Skills Marks o Speaking Skills Marks Speaking Skills shall comprise a set procedure of discussion of approximate minutes and shall be recorded for each group of students and shall be sent to CBSE for evaluation. Students remaining ABSENT during ASL shall be awarded ZERO marks towards ASL. FOR SCHOLARS (XI & XII): There is no provision for Re Test for the students who remain absent during Unit Tests and Half Yearly Examinations. The absentees will be awarded ZERO marks. Re test in the Final Examination will be given in ONE subject only. Candidate failing in two or more subjects will not be considered for promotion. The Re rest will be conducted within one week of the declaration of the final result and the syllabus for which will be the same as that of the Final Examination. Minimum pass percentage will be 33% in individual subjects as well as in aggregate. Promotion to the next class will be on the basis of Cumulative Result. It is mandatory to pass separately in THEORY as well as in PRACTICAL EXAMINATION. Project, Project Files, Practical Records must be thoroughly completed and evaluated by the concerned subject teacher by November, 15 positively. Answer scripts of the Unit Test, Half Yearly & PreBoard Examinations will be handed over to the students/ parents. XII Class students are required to score minimum 35% marks in Pre Board Examination failing which they have to attend remedial classes up to February 15, 16. Absentees shall be debarred from Board Examination. Report of the Half Yearly and Final Examination will be issued by the school for Scholars 1. For Scholars 2, report of Half Yearly and Pre Board Examination shall be issued by the school. Any change of subject(s) for Scholars 1 only, shall be allowed only up to August 31, 15. 7 75% ATTENDANCE IS COMPULSARY FOR ALL CLASSES TO APPEAR IN Each Term. Though the syllabus is provided to the students, yet it is advised that before the commencement of examination, the course be ascertained. For classes IX to XII., the syllabus is also available on CBSE website: Although the Date Sheets for Examinations are provided in Student s Diary, there could be a change in the same in unforeseen circumstances. The Principal has prerogative to change the time schedule of any test or examination towards unforeseen circumstances. The students have to clear the School Dues, if any, for example Fees, Labs, Scouts/ Guide, Library, Games etc. before they appear in the Final Examination failing which a student shall not be permitted to take the Examination. A student found using unfair means like use of scraps of paper, any writing on hand, pencil box, table etc. or bringing the text book with the intention of cheating, tearing of any page of the answer book, supplementary answer sheet etc or giving or taking help from the students will be penalized with the cancellation of the paper and no marks will be given in the paper thus cancelled. However, before taking any drastic step, the Principal, along with examination incharges will give enough chance to such a student to clarify his / her position for such an act. The Graph Papers, Outline Maps, Log Tables etc. where ever required during Examination will be provided by the Examination Department. After the declaration of Final Result, application for re totaling (Classes I to IX and 50/ per subject is to be deposited in the Office. No application for re totaling will be entertained after three days of the declaration of the result. No student will make use of any Guide Books. If it is found with anyone, the matter will be treated very seriously. Guide books are totally banned. ` 0 will be charged for a Duplicate Report Card (for Classes I to IX and XI), if the original report card is lost / tampered with by the student / otherwise required. The Medical Leave will be sanctioned exclusively by the Principal. In case of any doubt of genuineness of the medical, the decision of the Principal will be final and same will be communicated to the concerned. In Main Examination, only, in case of dire emergency or on medical ground, the re examination will be held within a week after the completion of the Exam. Parents will be responsible to collect the Examination Schedule from the Examination Department. However, only those will be considered for re examination whose medical or intimation reaches the school on the date or prior to the date of Examination.
