Inventory The technology inventory table below outlines infrastructure, networking capacity, and maintenance and support structure necessary to provide a comprehensive technology hardware environment. The technology inventory supports software application and appropriate filtering to enable students to have access to approved curricular programs and assessments. Upgrade of the district s telecommunications system will enable efficient communication across the schools. The table addresses replacing older equipment, increasing network capacity and providing technical support to ensure access to all members of the educational community. 6 Area of Need Telecommunications equipment and services funded year The district owns its own Fujitsu telephone (PBX) and voic systems. Needs Assessment In order to be technology compliant for the administration of the PARCC assessments targeted to be administered in the school year, the district identified upgrades needed for network capacity, hardware, and software necessary for optimal student achievement. Analysis of our technology, review of our inventory, and surveying administration and staff via our PLC s (Professional Learning Communities) indicated upgrades necessary in the following areas: Network Capacity: Increasing internet bandwidth from 300 mbps to 500 mbps. Upgrading the Private Fiber Network Links (PFN) between buildings from 1gig to 10 gig. Adding wireless N-series access points in all instructional areas. Hardware Upgrades: Purchasing laptops and tablets for a 2:1 student to device ratio. Software Application aligned with the curriculum: Purchasing and assessment software to include Mindplay, SRI, Compass Learning, EduTyping, RazKids, Brain Pop, Study Island, Discovery Education and STAM. Parent Communication Tools: Revamping the district website Expanding Powerschool access to parents of students in elementary grades Upgrade to Powerschool Announcer at middle and high school levels Mount Olive Township Public Schools Page 6 Plan

Three-Year Goals Goals for Goal 1: Learning Through By June 2016, continue to expand a district-wide culture that uses technology to promote the achievement of the Common Core State Standards in ELA and Math, the NJCCS, 21 st century skills, and student academic achievement through local and global learning experiences. Common Core content based software will be used to personalize instruction in the areas of academic need. Software programs will be deployed during the school day and after-school thru school sponsored tutoring sessions, teacher assigned homework, or student initiated research. Students will use technology equipment and software to produce written reports, spreadsheets and databases to reinforce and demonstrate learning. District equipment and software will be used for students and faculty to conduct global interactive investigations and for students to take online assessments in order to demonstrate their competence with standard based content. Goal 2: Professional Development By June 2016, professional development opportunities in technology will continue for all members of the educational community. These opportunities will be designed to support the successful integration of the curricular standards and 21 st Century Skills to enhance student academic achievement. Professional Development Strategies The following professional development strategies ensure that Mount Olive Township Public School district staff (teachers, administrators, and school library media personnel) use the technologies described in the plan to improve education and to support the identified needs: a. The Mount Olive Township Public School District recognizes that technology is a fundamental tool in achieving the CCSS, NJCCCS, 21 st century skills, and the district s educational goals. is a necessary tool that educators naturally integrate into their instructional pedagogy in order to provide effective, personalized learning for all students. Tablets and the Stronge Teacher Evaluation software will be utilized by all district administrators in implementing to the new state required evaluation process for all staff. Educational staff attends professional development experiences that enhance data informed decision making regarding student achievement, teaching and learning such as SRI assessments. Trainings on use of new hardware such as SMART boards, tablets, and STAM equipment and new software such as Mindplay, Compass Learning, and technology components aligned with new textbook adoptions are Mount Olive Township Public Schools Page 9 Plan
10 conducted during district in-service days, at faculty meetings, during PLCs, and at specified technology training sessions throughout the school year. Educators also participate in webinars, vendor provided professional development workshops, local and national conferences and seminars. District media specialists use Destiny in their libraries, provide typing programs for students to prepare them for the on-line PARCC assessments in Successful implementation of district technology initiatives are facilitated by knowledgeable technical support staff, building-based technology liaisons and committee representatives, educational media specialists and tech-savvy classroom teachers. Mount Olive provides staff with various models for professional development. Considerable financial resources are allocated to support staff development days, professional learning communities, summer workshops, webinars, in-service opportunities, after school workshops, and attendance at conferences and seminars. In addition, Mount Olive maintains a plan which pays tuition for courses taken by teachers and administrators at an approved institution. The district also contracts with outside consultants who provide specialized training in technology. b. The technology support staff receives training on new products and services in a variety of ways. When new network hardware or software is installed, the Support staff attends indistrict and out-of-district classes. Classes and seminars are attended by the appropriate technical personnel who will be responsible for supporting a district purchased product. In addition, all Technical Support personnel are Dell certified in order to repair computers, laptops, and servers. Annually technical support personnel attend training to maintain and update certifications in Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, Comp TIA, Fujitsu, Schoolwires, and Powerschool. Interactive whiteboard training will also be targeted in order for technicians to support and maintain equipment. c. The Department of Special Services provides training sessions, annually, to child study team members and teachers on new assistive technologies that support student learning. As specific needs arise, Child Study Team members and teachers are provided professional development on the particular student s assistive technology needs. District examples of assistive technology that have been provided include specialized keyboards, laptops, IPods, Nintendo Wii, DVD players, speech to text software, ZoomText, Boardmaker, Kurzweil, Write Out Loud, Co-Writer and communication devices. In addition, appropriate professional development is provided to classroom teachers, Child Study Team members, and specialists and is coordinated with the purchase of such equipment to ensure proper introduction and implementation. Professional development activities that will continue to support identified needs through 2016, include, but are not limited to the following: The district will continue to offer technology training sessions for all teachers and staff members in Mount Olive that addresses 21 st century skills for students and staff. Teachers and administrators will continue to be reimbursed for selected technology professional days that have administrative approval and are covered by contract language. School based PLCs may freely select technology and/or 21 st century skills as their topics for the year. Three staff development days are currently provided and address current technology infused trainings. Turn-key teachers will continue to provide colleagues with the training necessary to maximize technology integrated lesson design such as implementing the flipped classroom or maximizing BYOT. Training will be provided for all teachers using assistive technology in their classrooms. Mount Olive Township Public Schools Page 10 Plan
11 The district will utilize the Instructional Supervisors and turn-key teachers to work with students and staff in expanding the integration of technology in all subject areas and at all grade levels VII. The LEA is meeting the identified goals in the educational technology plan. District and building administrators, technology liaisons and media specialists review the district technology plan goals and implementation activities for rollout at respective sites. Monthly building meetings are conducted in order to highlight usage of new hardware and software to infuse into daily classroom instruction. District in-service days, faculty meetings, and targeted PLC sessions enable staff to receive hands on trainings to integrate technology and 21 st Century digital components into their curriculum. days are conducted weekly at each site to ensure students usage of personalized, individualized software programs. For example, 2 nd grade students use Samsung tablets to access their individualized learning pathway on Mindplay in order to improve their reading skills. District administrators observe and evaluate teachers implementing technology infused lessons annually. Instructional software applications such as Compass Learning, Mindplay, Rosetta Stone, STAM, SMART Notebook Math Tools, Geo-sketch pad, RAZ Kids, Study Island, Brain POP and Renzulli Learning provide students the opportunity to learn skills and concepts on an individualized pathway. Data obtained from the programs listed above are analyzed by grade level teams and content area teachers in PLCs in order to modify and adjust instruction. based assessments such as SRI provide students online assessment experience and practice aligned with NJCCCS and CCSS. Instructional use of technology by teachers and students will be assessed through classroom observations, lesson planning, participation in district provided technology workshops and student achievement measured by both formal and informal assessments. Revisions to the plan are made as the demographic, academic and fiscal needs of the district change. Mount Olive Township Schools will continue to consult national and state technology plans and benchmarks to identify technology proficiencies administrators, teachers, and students.
