3 Oxfam s Activities in Host community PHE Activities: Water Tanks Supply & Installation (1318 / 2998 HH) Rehabilitation of Wash facilities in the HH level (170 / 366 HH) Water Filters Distribution (850 / 750) Rain Water Harvesting (10) Water Quality Testing (20) Borehole Rehabilitation (63,000 usd) PHP Activities: Solid Waste Clean up campaigns. Hygiene Promotion campaigns. Hygiene & water conservation awareness through Mass Media. Distribution of Hygiene Vouchers.
4 Water TANKS supply and installation Pictures shows different capacity of water tanks; 2000, 1000, 500 & 125 L located on top of the roof, over ground or insidehouse, depending on the condition of each Household. ** Water Threshold to receive Water Tank is 65 L/P/day.
5 CHALLENGES/COMMENTS TANKS Framework agreement with landlord was not an issue. Number of beneficiaries. (Many families are equipped) Condition of the house (Roof, space availability, not connected to water network) Record of 50 Tanks installed per day (30 of 2 to 1 cubic meter) Average cost of 2 cubic: 130 JOD JOD (1 Cubic)
6 Sanitation Facilities Rehabilitation Targeting a total number of 366 families Rehabilitation works includes: piping works, plumbing fixtures & fittings (sinks, toilet pans, taps, drain pipes, valves ), sewage & drainage works, water heaters, pumps, special needs items, services and other additional items.

8 CHALLENGES/COMMENTS REHAB Landlord were very happy.!!!. Condition that the landlord will not raise the rental fee for 6 months Average budget rehabilitation of 330 JOD per HH. Some houses needs full rehabilitation (No bathroom, no toilet, no kitchen). Most common works: Internal Plumbing (leakage, rusted), flush toilet rehabilitation, Taps, clogged, heaters)
9 Distribution of 2 types of water filters ( 2 candles filters & 5 stages filter ), funded by ECHO Oxfam has distributed 2 types of water filters (2 candle & the 5 stages water filters ). Targeted 750 families 5 Stages: Candle Filter+ 3 carbon stages (remove chloride, taste, colour, smell + RO (Bacteria, viruses, Heavy salts)
10 CHALLENGES/COMMENTS FILTERS People don t like 2 candles (Same taste) Average cost of 5 stages: 180 JOD in the market (100 JOD for us). (10 JOD 2 candles). Drinking water from this filter. Filter (5 stages) well known by both communities
11 Water Quality Testing Oxfam is in the process of signing an MOU with the Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ), for the water quality testing in both Zarqa & Balqa Governorate (2 months pending) To insure the integrity & transparency of water quality testing in both governorate, Oxfam has selected an independent Laboratory (RSS) for the water quality testing, samples will be taken from 15 Households (2 points to be tested from each household Tests (90 JOD) to be taken are (Turbidity, TDS, E.Coli (Faecal coliform), ph & chlorine).
12 Pilot of Rain Water Harvesting Public Schools in Balqa Governorate will be targeted, taking into consideration Syrian refugees & vulnerable Jordanians living around the targeted school Concept Note was shared with the Ministry of Education for Approvals & Selection of schools.
13 Rehabilitation of Borehole Several meetings with Drilling department / WAJ to identify the boreholes One borehole was selected in Baqa a, in coordination with WAJ Baqa a office.
14 Hygiene Promotion Activities Hygiene Promotion awareness through Mass Media through SMS s services, informing them about distribution dates and other info as needed. (Personalised) Oxfam is planning awareness campaigns through Radios Al Balad) & TV stations (Roya TV). To be shared soon Distribution of Hygiene Vouchers : Up to date Oxfam has distributed 2,590 hygiene vouchers.
15 Successes/Lessons learnt Strong detailed assessments. (including Volunteers) Working with good contractors (Rehab of wash facilities, quality of the job) Rehabilitation of Wash facilities is needed Convince donors that this type of Wash support required time (assessment, tender, registration of BNF). Support to Jordanians families who are not registred in the MOSD /NAF.
