CERTIFICATIONS In 2010, Ojo Technology was certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) by VTA, a member of the California Unified Certification Program (CUCP). Ojo Technology is also a state-certified Small Business Enterprise. 2

3 IMMEDIATE BUSINESS Shortly after VTA certified Ojo Technology, the company won a major contract with Santa Cruz Metro to install security cameras in multiple bus stations. Proposals were scored based on various criteria, but the DBE certification was critical in winning the project. Ojo was the only bidder with this certification. CONTRACTOR INVITATIONS TO BID Since acquiring the DBE certification, Ojo Technology is listed in the CUCP database of DBEs, which prime bidders use to enlist quotes for subcontracting work. Because of the high standards to achieve a DBE goal waiver (Good Faith Efforts), general contractors are motivated to meet DBE goals in order to qualify as a responsive bidder. This has opened the door for Ojo to participate in far more bids than would have been possible without DBE certification. AGENCY SUPPORT FOR DBE SUBCONTRACTORS -- Public agencies provide ongoing advice, direction and support for DBE subcontractors during the lifespan of a construction project. They monitor contracts for payments and general contractor conformance with federal regulations. In short, they ve got your back! THE DBE ADVANTAGE Since prime bidders can be and have been disqualified on large projects for not meeting the DBE goals, the certification can provide DBE companies with an advantage. 3

4 Santa Cruz Metro Bus Terminals Since 2011, Ojo Technology has been installing new camera systems at transit centers throughout Santa Cruz Metro s service area. This was a project that Ojo won in large part because of its DBE certification. Currently, Ojo Technology is installing new camera systems at BART s Antioch Maintenance Facility and Parking Lot, where the line will ultimately end with passenger service for East Contra Costa County. 5 San Francisco MTA Light Rail Security In late 2013, Ojo partnered with Central Sierra Electric to install and integrate over 400 IP and thermal video surveillance cameras in more than a dozen SFMTA light rail stations under Market Street in San Francisco. DBE certification was an important element in winning this project. In 2012, Ojo Technology installed new camera systems, including servers and software, at four VTA Light Rail Stations in San Jose and Mountain View. Ojo won the two contracts with a prime bidder after three lower bids were disqualified for failing to meet DBE requirements. VTA Four Light Rail Stations 5

6 San Francisco Pier 27 Cruise Ship Terminal Ojo Technology s biggest transit win to date was the Justin R. Herman Cruise Ship Terminal at Pier 27 in San Francisco, which just celebrated its grand opening last month. Because of federal funding for the electrical and low voltage systems, Ojo s DBE certification was of key value to the prime contractor, Turner Construction, in meeting the DBE requirements for the project. Ojo Technology provided the complete security system and oversaw three other subcontractors. 6
