4 THE VALUE OF THE 2015 SURVEY DATA The Ascende Energy Acumen surveys offer the relevant and comprehensive benchmarking data business leaders need to understand the industry trends and the competitive environment. Armed with this knowledge, they can appropriately align employee benefit plans and HR programs with the needs and expectations of the workforce and their company s strategic business objectives. THE IMPORTANCE OF DATA FOR THE OIL & GAS INDUSTRY More that 50 percent of energy companies report they are experiencing labor shortages and recent predictions indicate the industry could produce as many as 500,000 new jobs by With a generation of experienced leaders and workers retiring in the coming years through the great crew change, companies are focusing on recruiting and training a younger workforce. Energy companies will need to update and modify their benefit plans and HR strategies to accommodate changing workforce demographics. The new energy workforce will include more women and minorities, as well as young Millennials, with new needs and priorities. Oil and gas companies typically offer benefit plans that go above and beyond other industries. However, more are evaluating consumer-driven options to begin managing costs in anticipation of the 2018 Cadillac Tax. There is also an increased interest in wellness initiatives, particularly as they support safety, risk management and productivity objectives. As shale plays emerge around the world, oil and gas companies are expanding their global footprints. There continues to be focus on refining the global HR infrastructure, centralizing decision making and evaluating risk across geographic regions.

The survey focuses on U.S. expatriates, inpatriates, third country nationals, rotators and commuters, key local nationals and temporary assignees. 6 HOW TO PARTICIPATE 102 More than companies & over half a m i l l i o n 597,330 employees from around the globe were represented 2014 in the surveys 183 plans with the annual M e d i c a l plan costs of almost three billion dollars To participate in one or more of the energy sector surveys or the global employee benefit plan survey, contact Ascende at or marketing@ascende.com The surveys will be launched in early January 2015 and will be open for data collection through early February. Participation includes a copy of the survey results report, as well as an invitation to the Ascende Energy Forums in May and June. The cost to participate is $3,500. If your company participates in more than one Ascende energy survey (sector-specific or global benefits), a discounted price will apply to each additional survey. Optional custom analysis is available after the survey results are released. This gives survey participants the opportunity to narrow the focus down to a custom selection of at least five comparable companies for an in-depth review that puts the data to work. A small cost may be associated.

7 ENERGY F OR U MS We host the annual Ascende Energy Forums, bringing the leaders of each of the energy sectors together to discuss the survey findings, benefit trends and emerging human capital needs. We explore the challenges common to all oil and gas companies, as well as those unique to each sector. The forums include a special session covering benefit trends that impact the globally mobile workforce. In 2015, the Ascende Energy Forums will include events in Fort Worth and Tulsa, as well as other areas with a concentration of survey participants.
