2 Social Media: you can t miss it! What can Social Media mean for you and your company? The way people communicate and how you can reach them is changing and changing fast. Are you keeping up? We are all members of social networks, we communicate online via discussion forums, chat functions and blogs and we have online profiles. Have you ever really thought about the consequences for you or for your organisation? Are there any new changes that you are unaware of? Or unnoticed threats?

4 Key aims & learning objectives: - All participants will, regardless of their knowledge and experience, leave the day with key new knowledge about social media, how they can apply it within their own careers and professional development and how they can use it to further the interests of the business they work for. - All participants will leave the day with a social media strategy and action plan for their professional and career development and one for how they can help their own organisation. - Participants depending on their experience will leave with their social media accounts chosen, set up and a clear idea of how to progress with them. - Participants will leave being clear on their future learning and development needs and further learning resources in social media.

7 *Breakout I Beginners Stream (Personal Professional) Inform - Overview of the main social media sites (LinkedIn, Twitter, Blogs, facebook, Hyves etc.) - How do I get started and where do I start? - Using Social Media to develop your personal profile Work - Participants will be asked to pick one/two of the social media sites, to create an initial profile and start using the service. Share - Participants will be asked to share their experiences with the other delegates including what they learnt and what they plan to do next.
8 Advanced Stream (Personal Professional) Inform - You re all set up...now what? - Personal Branding - Using Social Media to develop your personal profile - Case studies and stories - Setting up and linking up your social media system (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, RSS readers, Tools and Tricks) Work - Participants will be asked to use the highlighted tools to start linking their social media profiles together. Share - Participants will be asked to share their experiences with the other delegates including what they learnt and what they plan to do next.
9 Beginners Stream (Business) **Breakout II Inform - Every effective social media strategy has the following elements: Curation, Connecting, Content, Creation and Communicating across its Customers and/or Colleagues. - What is your social media strategy going to be for you in your business? - Why is it important? - Using social media to develop your professional profile Work - Participants will be asked using our framework to develop their own professional social media strategy. Share - Participants will be asked to share their experiences with the other delegates including what they learnt and what they plan to do next.
