Our 2015 Training Calendar supports the creation of Better Workplaces by minimising the risks of physical hazards to health and safety in the workplace and maximising the potential and productivity which comes from having a workforce who are well, happy and thriving. We are again proud to offer courses in all States and Territories, assisting and supporting our customers from across Australia manage their Work Health & Safety (WHS) issues. In the event someone is injured or becomes unwell, we will continue to strive to achieve the best possible outcome, done in the best possible way. Cancellation Policy Please note: QBE Insurance Australia reserves the right to cancel any course if only minimal reservations are made. Participants will be notified of cancellations prior to the commencement of a course, using details supplied during registration. Should the registered individual be unable to attend a course, a substitute is always welcome and when a course incurs a fee, there will be no additional charge. Please notify the QBE National Training Coordinator in this instance to ensure the contact details are updated. Cancellations must be received at least five (5) business days prior to the enrolled course commencement date in writing (via ). Where five (5) business days notification has been received, a cancellation fee will not apply. If these terms are not met, a cancellation fee of 50% of the original charges will be applied. Please note: if a participant does not attend a course and does not provide communication of non attendance (no show), QBE reserves the right to remove their name from further training courses they may be registered for, with notice. 16 16 Workers Compensation 2015 COURSE DESCRIPTIONS A National Summary of Workers Compensation NSW, SA, VIC, WA This course will provide participants an overview of the various Workers Compensation schemes across Australia. It will include the legislative differences and similarities for the lodging of claims, rehabilitation and return to work responsibilities for multi-state employers. Participants will learn about key features of the schemes for each state and territory, including legal obligations, basic claims management processes, return to work, dispute resolution, rights and responsibilities of employers and workers and cross border arrangements. This course is suitable for all multi-state or national employers with a responsibility for managing Workers Compensation in more than one jurisdiction. NIBA Accredited: 3 CPD Points ANZIIF Approved: 3 CIP Points ACT, NSW, NT, VIC, WA This course is an introduction to the Workers Compensation scheme, the basics of claims management, rehabilitation and return to work responsibilities for employers. Participants will learn about the roles and responsibilities of employers and workers in the event of a claim, understanding what is compensable under the Act, calculating average weekly earnings and understanding rehabilitation and return to work. This course is suitable for those with little or no knowledge of the Workers Compensation scheme. 17 Training Calendar Advanced Role of Return to Work Coordinator (Approved by WorkSafe Victoria) VIC This course is designed to improve the knowledge, skills and capacity of experienced and accredited Return to Work (RTW) Coordinators to facilitate an effective RTW for more complex cases. How to progress a return to work that has stagnated How to engage with treating practitioners to obtain best outcomes for all parties Working with new legislative changes surrounding RTW that will provide practical techniques on how to illustrate effective planning for RTW Why consultation is so important How effective communication can assist in driving safe, sustainable return to work outcomes How to utilise your network within your agent. It is a pre-requisite that participants have obtained their approved certificate for the VIC Role of Return to Work Coordinator course and have at least 6 months experience in the role. NIBA Accredited: 6 CPD Points ANZIIF Approved: 6 CIP Points An Introduction to Return to Work Coordination (Approved by WorkCover NSW) NSW This training session has been developed to provide the information and skills for Return to Work (RTW) Coordinators to support employers and facilitate successful return to work of injured workers. Overview of injury management concepts Components of an employer s RTW program Role of the RTW Coordinator Working with key stakeholders, including doctors, rehabilitation and treatment providers Role of the insurer premiums and claims management Benefits for injured workers Developing a RTW plan Dispute prevention and resolution. All organisations with a base tariff premium greater than $50,000 (Category 1 Employer) under legislation must nominate a training RTW coordinator to ensure the effective recovery and RTW of injured workers. This course would benefit Category 2 Employers (i.e. any organisation not a Category 1 Employer) and/or managers and supervisors who desire a better understanding of the Workers Compensation system and RTW requirements. This course is suitable for newly registered employers and those seeking an overview of how premiums are calculated. The new laws require directors and officers to be proactive. Previously, a director was generally only drawn into safety matters following an incident. Now, a regulator may require a director to demonstrate what they have done to exercise due diligence even where there has not been an incident or breach. Presented by a leading Specialist Hand Surgeon and Hand Therapist, this education is aimed at assisting your workplace in preventing common and costly hand injuries, as well as providing a plan of action in the event of a hand injury occurring in your workplace.
