2 This presentation will show you how to determine which Medicare drug plans offer the drug(s) you need on their formulary. It is not an in-depth comparison of plans, but does show you how to do a Quick Check to see which plans in your area have your drug(s) available on their formulary. 3 It is important to know that insurance companies may implement certain restrictions for medications which are listed on their formularies. So even if your medication is listed on a plan s formulary, remember that your use of that medication could still be restricted by prior authorization requirements, quantity/dose limits, medical policies, or unaffordable co-insurance amounts. 4 1. Go to 2. In the middle of the screen, in General Search box, type in your zip code. Click on FIND PLANS.

5 3. Two questions appear, since this is just a QuickCheck, select the last bullet, I don t know for both. 4. Click on CONTINUE TO PLAN RESULTS

6 5. Type the name of your medication in the box, such as your augmentation therapy (Aralast NP, Glassia, Prolastin-C or Zemaira) 6. Click on FIND MY DRUG (the system moves forward once it recognizes the name, so clicking on FIND MY DRUG may not be necessary) 7. If search results appears, click on ADD DRUG next to the correct medicine name.

7 8. Below the window where you type in the name of your drug SEARCH RESULTS will appear. Click + ADD DRUG 9. A pop up box appears; accept default entries by clicking on ADD DRUG AND DOSAGE. PLEASE NOTE: Insurance companies may implement certain restrictions for medications which are listed on their formularies. 8 10. Pop up box disappears. Scroll down on the new screen which will now show your drug s name in My Drug List. If desired, add additional drug names to your drug list, and when complete, click on MY DRUG LIST IS COMPLETE at the bottom of the screen.

9 11. A list of pharmacies appears, for QuickCheck, it doesn t matter which you select, just click on ADD PHARMACY (in blue type) beneath one of the listed pharmacies.

10 12. Click on CONTINUE TO PLAN RESULTS.

11 A new screen appears. 13. On the left of the screen, under Refine Your Search click on SELECT DRUG OPTIONS 14. Put a check in first 2 boxes (to add a checkmark, place cursor over the box and click) a. have NO restrictions for my drugs b. have all my drugs on formulary

12 15. On right side of screen, in the Select All column, put a check in the boxes beside plans which offer prescription drug coverage. a. Prescription drug Plans with Original Medicare b. Medicare Health Plans with Drug Coverage 16. Click on CONTINUE TO PLAN RESULTS

13 17. A screen entitled Your Plan Results appears. These are all the plans in your zip code/area which cover the drug(s) you entered; notice in the Drug Coverage column: a. are all your drugs on formulary YES b. drug restrictions NO

14 Review Plan Results 18. Notice the column: Estimated Annual Drug Costs (this estimate is based on the selected pharmacy which, for QuickCheck, was selected randomly, and is unlikely to be pharmacy actually used). To get real estimates of drug costs, enter the exact preferred pharmacy provider. (Note: Many specialty pharmacies are not listed as a choice in the Medicare Plan Finder, making it necessary to contact the specialty pharmacy directly for an estimate of drug costs.) 19. A more thorough plan review must be done to choose the most desirable plan, but the QuickCheck can show you a list of plans in your area where your medication is on formulary without restrictions.
