8 Daniel Josefsson 2012 Counterfeit Detection Process A strict set of procedures and techniques for the authentication of electronic components. Visual component inspection includes body and lead inspection, marking permanency tests, digital micrometer measuring, high resolution digital photography and barcode reading. Electrical testing through a complex PinPrint test algorithm to identify components that have a different internal die structure or no die at all. Should any part fail these procedures they are subject to further investigation.
9 Daniel Josefsson 2012 Quality Assured Procedures Safeguarding against counterfeits Electrical testing through a complex PinPrint test algorithm, SENTRY is able to detect the absence of a die or variations in the output of the internal die A wide range of packages can be tested, including DIL, SOIC, PLCC and BGA. Comparison to 'Known good' device reporting can be used to help safeguard against counterfeit and defective components. Die testing can authenticate a component with a specific manufacturer which is available on request.

June 98 Prototype approved by customer and batches of 600 manufactured with a call off of 60 per month. March 09 A component became obsolete forcing a redesign to be laid out in surface mount. April 09 Prototype built for customer approval. May 09 to present 3000 units delivered to customer on a JIT basis. As a result in the ongoing modifications the customer requested us to produce 4 other boards.
11 Daniel Josefsson 2012 Case Study 2...Multilayer Taxi Meters Jan 08 Customer required a new provider of taxi meters. March 08 Prototypes built, full test procedures undertaken and approved by customer. April 08 Parts are put into production and 500 units delivered to the customer. June 08 Customer chose a different provider and encountered production, testing and quality issues. Aug 08 to present Batches of 500 are produced and are called off every month. Ongoing design changes and layouts have been made with a recent version 8 completion.
12 Daniel Josefsson 2012 Case Study 3...Oil Alarm Feb 07 Customer required a new provider of a display and PSU. March 07 Prototypes built, full test procedures undertaken and approved by customer. May 10 Overheating problems occurred due to 24V and 12V usage. Help, advice and modifications made with customer. Aug 10 to present Batches of 500 produced and delivered to customer on an ongoing basis. As a result of working with the customer they asked us to produce every version of the board (version 5 at present).
