Promethean s Professional Development Department continues to grow to best meet our customer s professional needs so we can assist with integrating the Activclassroom. We believe it is only with training that you can get the most out of your Activclassroom, with this in mind, we have created a series of online and face to face courses developed to deliver high quality training that will help you achieve your teaching and learning goals. To help you distinguish between our offerings, we have compiled this guide. Please remember that all courses are sequential and upper level courses should not be taken until the prerequisites are met. To learn more, visit

3 Online ActivInspire courses are now available on the new ActivLearning page at All users must first register on Promethean Planet, Once registered, they can enrol on and/or purchase any of the courses. Free Courses: An Introduction to ActivInspire Course available in 20 languages* This course introduces the main features of ActivInspire. During this course participants will learn the basic skills required to create simple, interactive flipcharts. By scoring %100 on the assessments users from the US/UK can download an optional certificate of completion. 4 Online Chargeable Courses: Level 1 Skills Course available in 9 languages* Available in either Studio or Primary format, this course covers the main features of ActivInspire in detail through interactive tutorials and assessments. Working at your own pace, participants will receive instruction in using resources, presentation tools, integrating the internet, advanced features, etc. This course leads to the award of an ActivInspire Core Skills Certificate and optionally an Advanced Skills Certificate. Create lessons using resources & shapes Work with text Work with pages Use presentation tools Incorporate Advanced Skills including containers, restrictors and actions. *9 languages include: English UK, English US, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (European), Spanish, Level 2 Curriculum Developer Course available in US/UK English Learn to create interactive and pedagogically sound flipcharts appropriate to your curriculum. Teaching and learning resources, as well as activities and good practice discussions will aid the user in successfully achieving personal and professional development goals. A self paced course allows teachers to work at times convenient for them, while mentor and peer support enhance the course objectives. 5 Online ActivStudio and ActivPrimary, version 3.1 online courses are still available for PC and Mac users at Please keep in mind that Promethean Learning is expected to be phased out mid-year in 2010, as we complete the migration to ActivInspire and ActivLearning. Courses: Level 1 Foundation Skills This free course provides you with the basics of the ActivStudio or ActivPrimary software. The course will teach participants how to utilise the basic tools in order to create exciting, interactive flipcharts that will engage students in any classroom. Level 1 Advanced Skills With this self-paced course, teachers have the opportunity to explore many of the advanced features of the ActivStudio and ActivPrimary software, such as restrictors, containers, and actions. They will also learn how to utilise outside resources within their flipcharts, such as Microsoft Office products and the Internet. Other tools and resources featured are the learner response system (ActiVotes), the Resource Library, and interactive tools, such as a clock. Five assessments and uploading a flipchart are final course requirements. Level 2 Curriculum Developer This course is for teachers who wish to enhance their teaching and truly integrate the ActivClassroom. Level 2 focuses on pedagogy and how to promote higher level thinking skills within the ActivClassroom. The opportunities for personal growth are endless as educators are challenged within this six week mentored course that promotes best practices and supports collaboration among educators from all over the world. Level 3 Training and Resource Developer The Training & Resource Developer Course focuses on training the adult learner, self-evaluation as a trainer, and developing training flipcharts. Participants are required to facilitate a training event and prepare all training materials before a certificate is issued. The final phase of the Training & Resource Developer Course includes access to a global Training Resource Community, offering support from trainers all around the world, as well as additional resources. Individuals requiring Level 3 training prior to the release of the Inspire Level 3 course are welcome to participate and will be accommodated.

6 Face to Face Workshops Teachers never stop learning that s why we ve created a customisable, creative professional development programme designed to help educators get the very best from their students by using our classroom technology. ActivLearning Face to Face Workshops are available at Promethean s facilities, or on-site at your school or college. ActivLearning offers educators courses in everything from getting started with ActivInspire, to getting results when training others in their school system. With a focus on creativity, connectivity and in-depth comprehension, the courses are much like an ActivClassroom lesson themselves exciting, engaging, personal and everyday functional. NB : ActivStudio and Activprimary courses will continue to be available for a limited time while Promethean customers complete the migration to ActivInspire. 7 Face to Face Workshops ActivInspire Level 1 Skills Course & Advanced Skills Course Essential for those who want to create innovative, interesting and interactive lessons using ActivInspire. These Face to Face workshops include all the modules of the Core and Advanced Skills component of the online courses. However, the workshops offer a more in-depth study and practical application of the software in a classroom situation. Delivered by accredited Promethean trainers with an education background, the interactive workshop explores ways to develop customised lessons and resources using the features of ActivInspire. Key benefits include practical hands-on experience of using ActivInspire with the Activboard and guidance in using the software to deliver lessons embedded within the existing curriculum.
