4 DESCRBE THE REQUESTED COURSE/PROGRAM ACTON (additional pages may be attached if necessary): The Applied nformation Technology program - Division Science, nformation Arts and Technologies proposes a new course, case 435: Digital Forensics. SET FORTH THE RATONALE FOR THS PROPOSAL: The proposed course is a requirement for the Applied nformation Technology Program's proposed nformation Assurance and Security content track; a major elective for other Applied nformation Technology and Simulation and Digital Entertainment majors; a general elective for other UB undergraduates. n recent years, information technology has experienced dramatic growth. Many of these advances have also provided malicious users with the ability to conceal their activities and destroy evidence of their actions. This has raised the need of developing specialists in digital forensics. The proposed course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to analyze and evaluate case studies using computer forensics tools and techniques. The course will enable the AT graduate to: - understand the concepts and process of information assurance and security; - implement and apply the principles, tools and techniques of digital forensics; and - apply the principles and procedures of incident response.
