16 Initial Progress Review Week beginning: 5th October What are SMART targets? SPECIFIC - They say exactly what you need to do MEASURABLE - You can prove when you have reached them ACHIEVABLE - You can reach them in a reasonable amount of time REALISTIC - They are actions that you are able to control TIME BONDED - They have deadlines eg. to revise Psychology unit 1 by making revision cards for each topic by Christmas. Read the list of targets below and work out if your think they are SMART. Use the notes space on p.12 if necessary 1. To work harder in class. 2. To do my assignments. 3. 18 Progress Review Sixth Form Report Grade Descriptors Sixth Form class work effort A B C D Excellent level of focus in all lessons, contributes actively in discussion asking insightful questions and consistently produces outstanding work. Concentrates in all lessons, completes all work to a good standard and contributes ideas and views without prompting. Reasonable effort in lessons, some contributions are made in class and completes all work. Variable effort in lessons, shows a limited enthusiasm for the work in terms of contributions made and does not always complete tasks fully. Sixth Form homework effort A B C D All homework tasks demonstrate outstanding effort. There is evidence of extended study in the work produced or contributions made in class. Always completes homework on time to a good standard. Homework is usually completed but detail can be lacking. May have been referred to Study Rehab to address this issue. Homework is unreliably completed, often incomplete or missing. They have been referred to Study Rehab on a number of occasions. Sixth Form attitude A B C D Demonstrates a high level of enthusiasm and energy for the subject and is proactive asking for advice and/or help in order to exceed target grade. Good level of enthusiasm for learning always responds to advice on how to improve further and will ask for help in class if needed. Variable attitude to learning in terms of acting on advice and asking for help. Can lack motivation or enthusiasm, does not act on advice or seek help when needed. 18

Return to Sixth Form 20 th June Second draft due in for checking Monday 12 th September Tutors and Miss Rook checking 3 rd /4 th /5 th drafts By Friday 16th October all personal statements should be uploaded on UCAS (medics/oxbridge have the earlier deadline of Wednesday 8 th October). By this point the online application should also be finished. You then enter your bank details, pay the 23 and Pay & Send your application. 30
