Go Further! More convenience You can load up to 12 different currencies. It works just like a credit card at 29 million Visa retailers around the world, except you re accessing money you ve loaded. Shop in the local currency loaded in one of your wallets and there is no currency conversion fee or foreign exchange rate. You can also withdraw local cash at 1.8 million ATMs. Each currency is loaded into its own wallet on the card, so it s easy to see exactly how much money you have. More control Keep an eye on the foreign exchange rates, and load when they are looking good. Load is immediate in a PostShop or, if you are a Kiwibank customer, using the My Accounts section in Internet Banking. Otherwise, it takes up to 2 business days. However much you load at one time, for each currency we offer, the reload fee is 1% but capped to a maximum of NZ$10 for each load (or a similar fixed amount for each other currency) see our Fees and Limits for full details on Load your card online. Check your card balance anytime, online, via TXT or . More confidence Because it s prepaid it s easy to stick to your budget. Safer than carrying cash. You have a second card if one gets lost. Getting started and activating your card If you purchased your Loaded TM for Travel card from your local PostShop, it s all ready to use. If you purchased it online, you ll also need to activate it check the instructions on the sticker on the front of your card. You must not use your card before you have signed it. It s a good idea to logon to My Account before you head overseas. That way you can become familiar with all the services you can access to manage your card. Go to and click on My Account. When you first logon, you ll be asked to enter your Date of Birth (DOB), card number and CVV2 number (a three digit security number on the back of your card). You ll be prompted to change your password and enter a username for future access. Loading your card 12 currencies to choose from Load as many currencies as you need on your Loaded TM for Travel card (the foreign exchange rate of the day applies). It s your choice depending on where you ll be travelling. Each currency is loaded into a wallet on the card. For example, if you load three currencies, you ll have three wallets on your card, plus the NZD wallet that comes with the card. The 12 currencies you can select from are: Note, this list is also the set wallet order in case you don t have enough currency in one wallet. New Zealand Dollar (NZD) Australian Dollar (AUD) United States Dollar (USD) Great Britain Pound (GBP) Euro (EUR) Canadian Dollar (CAD) Singapore Dollar (SGD) Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) Thai Baht (THB)
Japanese Yen (JPY) Indian Rupee (INR) South African Rand (ZAR) Adding currency wallets Your NZD wallet and the first foreign currency wallet you set-up is free. For all other wallets you choose, there is a fee. For more details, please refer to the Fees and Limits on You can add additional wallets when you purchase the card, or at any time after that. So if you decide to add more destinations to your travel plans or want to use another currency, you can load the currency to suit your needs, and even transfer money between the currency wallets (note, the foreign exchange rate of the day will apply). You can create a new currency wallet by going online at any time: visit and select My Account and you can transfer money between the wallets. Use Internet Banking; all our currencies are pre set-up in the main New Zealand banks internet banking systems. Which currencies should I load? For destinations that use one of the 12 Loaded TM for Travel card currencies, load a wallet with the local currency. If you spend in the currency you have loaded (and have sufficient funds in your wallet), no foreign exchange cost or currency conversion fee will apply. If you are visiting a destination that does not use any of these currencies, we recommend you load some money into your NZD wallet to reduce your costs. Full details on how foreign exchange rates and the currency conversion fees are applied can be found at under Fees and Limits. Spending with your card EFTPOS, ATM and online For EFTPOS purchases and at ATMs, press the credit button. Use your PIN, rather than sign, wherever possible. For other purchases such as online, you will need your full 16 digit card number. You may be asked for the CVV2 security number. If the prompt is for the cardholder name, enter your name. How do currency wallets work? Your card is smart best way to spend: If you re spending in the currency you have loaded, the amount will be deducted from the available balance, and no foreign exchange rate or currency conversion fee will apply. And it gets even smarter using our currencies: If you re spending in one of our currencies but you have insufficient money in your wallet for that currency, or you didn t load a wallet for that currency, your card will check your other currency wallets in a set order (check the set wallet order above) to see if they have enough money to complete your transaction. When it finds a wallet with enough money, our foreign exchange rate of the day will apply and the amount will be deducted from that wallet. And your card can still work for you using other currencies: If you use your card in a country that has a different currency to those we offer, then the transaction amount will be converted to NZD. That NZD amount will then be deducted from your NZD wallet, if it has enough money. If it doesn t, your card will check for another wallet (in the set wallet order above) which does have enough money to complete the transaction. The NZD amount will be converted into the currency of that wallet and deducted from the balance.
Our foreign exchange rate of the day and a currency conversion fee will apply. For full details, see under Fees and Limits. Remember however that some retailers may offer you a NZD purchase price. If you choose this, we deduct the transaction s NZD amount from the New Zealand wallet. If you don t have a NZD wallet loaded onto the card or insufficient funds in that wallet, we ll use our foreign exchange rate of the day and deduct the amount from the first wallet (check the set wallet order above) that has enough funds for the transaction. Transaction limits We set total maximum limits for your transactions in New Zealand and overseas in any day or 24-hour period. For full details see under Fees and Limits. Different banks, financial institutions and merchants may also impose restrictions and may also charge you fees for using their ATMs, EFTPOS terminals or other payment services. Where you can t use your card Your card can be used at 29 million Visa retailers around the world. But you may still find there are some places where you can t use it, including: in zip-zap machines (manual imprinters) for some taxis, for gambling and for some services where an online merchant requires that your identity is authenticated against the details stored on your card if your purchase is more than your available balance if your available balance is less than any fees or costs that are payable. Reloading your card To reload your card, you can: Visit any PostShop. Use Internet Banking. A load is immediate at the PostShop or if you are a Kiwibank customer through Kiwibank internet banking using the My Accounts section. Otherwise a load takes up to two business days. In that case, the foreign exchange rates will be at the day the card is reloaded by us. Load money as often as you wish However much you load at one time, for each currency we offer, the reload fee is 1% but capped to a maximum. This is NZ$10 for the NZD wallet and a similar fixed amount in each other currency see our Fees and Limits for full details on For example, if at one time you load NZ$50 to your NZD wallet, you ll be charged 50 cents (1% of the load). If you load NZ$1,000 you will be charged NZ$10 (1% of the load). And if you load NZ$5,000, the fee will still be NZ$10 because of the cap. You can load savings as often as you like before you travel and while you are way. Note, the minimum initial load for each wallet is NZ$100 (or foreign currency equivalent). There is no minimum load amount after the first load. There are also maximum limits on how much you can load at any one time. The foreign exchange rate of the day applies to all loads. Full details of Fees and Limits are on No interest is payable on your wallet balances.
Your second Loaded for Travel card You have been given a second Loaded TM for Travel card, in case one gets lost, stolen, damaged or retained in an ATM. You can start using the second card anytime. It accesses all of your money and your currency wallets, so you can continue shopping and paying for expenses with no inconvenience. Your second card has a different card number. You will have already selected a different PIN when you purchased the card. While you travel, we suggest that you keep the second card somewhere safe. That way it s there if you need it. It s a good idea to lock your second card so it can t be used (see and unlock it if you ever need to use it. If either of your cards are ever lost or stolen, you must call as soon as you can. TXT and services for more convenience To access all TXT and services, you need to sign-up in My Account to register your details at Making sure there s enough money on your card It s important to keep an eye on your card account so you re never caught without money. It s easy to check. 4 ways to check your balance from anywhere: Visit and select My Account Use our TXT services Call the automated phone service If you are a Kiwibank customer, check Internet Banking Note, an ATM machine may not give you an exact balance. TXT-in services Simply TXT the reference below of the service you require, add a space and then the last 4 digits of your card number to (you must type in the + symbol). You ll automatically receive a reply. To get the balance of your wallets per wallet: bal, space + last 4 digits of card number To get the last 5 card transactions: stmt, space + last 4 digits of card number To lock the card so it can t be used: lock, space + last 4 digits of card number To unlock the card so it can be used: unlock, space + last 4 digits of card number TXT and alerts You can choose to receive TXT or alerts for a range of updates including: Balance request: Your card balance is sent on a regular basis. Low balance: Prompts you to reload your card. Load confirmed: Confirms a load. For TXT and alert fees, see Fees and Limits on You can request those services in My Account at After your return Ideally, you ll only load your Loaded for Travel card with the money you actually need for your travels. But if you do get back and there s still money left on your card no problem! You can: Keep your card for your next trip overseas and load your savings onto it. You have at least 12 months before being charged the monthly inactivity fee.
Spend the money by using your card to pay for online purchases. If you shop online using local currencies you have a wallet for, you will avoid the cost of foreign exchange rates and currency conversion fees. Note, buying online is now more secure thanks to Verified by Visa, a new identification check (see the Answers to questions you may have section at the end of this brochure). Another option is to spend the money by making purchases in New Zealand. However, unless the money is in your NZD wallet, foreign exchange costs or a currency conversion fee may apply. Make an ATM withdrawal, unless the money is in your NZD wallet, foreign exchange costs or a currency conversion fee may apply. Note there s a fee and you ll probably have a small amount of money left over that the ATM can t give you (in New Zealand, any amount less than a $10 note). Close your card (see below). Closing your card If you wish to close your card, fill in a closure form from scan it and it to enquiries@loadedcard.co.nz or fax it to (04) Or you can post it to Loaded Card, Private Bag , Wellington Mail Centre, Wellington We ll convert any remaining money back into NZD and deposit it into any New Zealand bank account you choose, less a Transfer Fee and any other applicable fees. Any foreign exchange rates will be at the day the card is closed. If you want us to close your account, it s a good idea for you to first print off a transaction history because after it s closed you won t have access to any transaction records or statements. Other important information Automated phone service You can use our automated phone service to change your PIN, get your card balance, or confirm your last 10 transactions. Just follow the voice prompts. The first time you use this service, please use the day and month of your birthday as your PIN. For example: 0208 if your birthday is 2 August. We advise you to change this PIN for future access. Substitute card number for loading your card Your substitute card number is printed on the front of your Loaded TM for Travel assistance card and on the back of your Loaded for Travel card. This number can only be used for loading funds onto your card (from a PostShop), not for purchasing. It s a great way for someone to gift you money for your travels or load funds onto your card in emergencies without them needing your full 16-digit card number. Card authorisations and holds As with credit cards, some merchants such as hotels and car rentals may check that you ve got enough money in your account before you pay the final bill this is called a card authorisation. If a merchant requests authorisation, some of your card balance is placed on hold for the future transaction. This means the money available for you to spend is different from your actual current balance until the transaction is finalised and processed. Card authorisation requests can hold the money in your account for up to five days. Card disputes It s your responsibility to regularly check your card transactions and balance. Let us know immediately if you think you didn t make a transaction. If it s confirmed you didn t make it, we may be able to charge back the transaction. So it s really important you contact us straight away. If you don t report a problem within 30 days of it occurring then we can t reverse the transaction and you will have to pay for it. Instructions for disputing a transaction are set out on
Insurance and other services We can arrange travel insurance to cover you for unexpected mishaps covered by the policy and a mail hold facility to stop mail building up while you re away. Just ask at your local PostShop. Fees and Limits You should receive a Fees and Limits flyer with this brochure. This may change from time to time so it s a good idea to keep checking the website under Fees and Limits, particularly before you travel on All fees are deducted from the balance of the wallet that you are using. So, make sure that you have enough in the wallet to meet the cost of your purchase and any fees. If I m a customer of Kiwibank, does changing anything online change my personal information with Kiwibank? Where can I get information on my travel insurance? What do I need to purchase online? What is the CVV2 number? What is Verified by Visa? Answers Go to and click on My Account. You will be asked to enter your Date of Birth (DOB), card number and CVV2 number when you first logon. You will be prompted to change your password and enter a username for future access. Call us on (NZ) or (overseas) for assistance. If you re a Kiwibank customer, you can transfer money within Kiwibank Internet Banking onto your travel card and the load is immediate from the my accounts section. If you re using internet banking of another bank, just search for Loaded for Travel as a Bill Payee. Transfers using Bill Pay may take up to two business days to appear on your travel card. Any foreign exchange rates will be at the day the card is reloaded by us. No, online access relates to the servicing of your Loaded for Travel card only. Ensure that you let Kiwibank know if you need to change your general banking information. If you purchased Instant Insurance for Travel, you would have received a policy in your card pack and you can go to for information. You will need your full 16 digit card number. You may be asked for the CVV2 security number. If prompted for the cardholder name, just enter your first name and your last name. It s the three digit security number on the back of the card, next to the signature panel. Some merchants may request this number to complete a transaction. When you buy online at selected retailers, you may be prompted to enter some additional verification details (stuff you already know, but a fraudster couldn t guess) - this is to stop anyone who isn t you using your card to buy things online. Will I be sent a new card once this card expires? What if I exceed the available balance on my card? What if money is credited to my card by mistake? What if I lose my card or it s stolen or damaged or has been used without my authorisation or my PIN or password has been disclosed? What is a substitute card number? Your Loaded TM for Travel card will not be reissued once it expires. You can purchase a new card at any PostShop or online via internet banking if you are a Kiwibank customer. You can ask for any unused amount on your card to be repaid in just the same way as if you were closing the card (see above). We will normally decline a transaction if it exceeds your available balance in any wallet. If for any reason your available balance is exceeded you must pay us the amount exceeding the balance immediately. You must immediately contact us if you become aware of funds wrongfully credited to your card. You must not spend those funds. You will be responsible to pay them back to us. Tell us straight away by calling the number at the back of this brochure. If the customer service number is temporarily unavailable you must continue to try to get hold of us within a reasonable time after the service is restored. You must destroy any damaged or faulty card. We will issue you a new card on request. For card replacement fees see Fees and Limits on You will be liable to pay no more than NZ$50 of any loss that occurs before you notify us. However this NZ$50 limit will not apply if: you have acted fraudulently or negligently you have contributed to the unauthorised use of your card, for example breaching the requirements of this brochure Once you have told us that your card has been lost or stolen, or your PIN or password disclosed, you will not be responsible for any unauthorised use of your card after that time. This protection will not apply if you have acted fraudulently or negligently. A substitute card number allows you to give a number to another person so they can load your card (they can t make a purchase). It is printed on the back of your card. If your question isn t answered here Please check under Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
