JOB TITLE Occupational Therapist (Part-time) REPORTING TO Head of Primary Student Support/Secondary Student Support WORKING HOURS/ DAYS Normally from 8.30 to days a week between Monday and Friday. START DAY 16 August 2016 LOCATION Secondary : 21 Star Street, London W2 1QB Nursery & Primary: 4 York Terrace East, London NW1 4PT Primary: 7b Wyndham Place, London W1H 1PN The post holder will be required to work in all ICS sites in London SALARY 30,000 35,000 per annum pro rata dependent on qualifications and experience. HOLIDAYS As per the school calendar, outside of 39 working weeks APPRAISAL On an annual basis via self/peer/line-manager appraisal. SALARY REVIEW On an annual basis. Increases to be based on individual performance, economic conditions and school budgetary considerations.
2 MAIN OBJECTIVE To ensure a safe, rich and stimulating therapeutic environment and instruct students within the prescribed curriculum, and work co-operatively with colleagues. To provide several learning options, or different paths to learning, which help students take in information and make sense of concepts and skills by differentiating the way material is presented. To case manage between 2-4 students, and to have a thorough knowledge of the IILP s of students on the sen register. CONTEXT This job is located at ICS, London, where the post holder will be responsible for planning, delivery and monitoring of students with occupational therapy needs e.g. sensory integration, fine and gross motor issues, etc. To provide meaningful therapeutic input as part of our multidisciplinary team. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES Collaborate with teachers, multidisciplinary team and parents to ensure understanding of student s occupational performance strengths and needs, through evaluation, educational program planning, and service delivery. Evaluate students through a variety of functional, behavioural, and standardized assessments, skilled observation, checklists, histories, and interviews. Synthesize evaluation results into a comprehensive written report, which reflects strengths and barriers to student participation in the educational Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individual education plans and intervention plans to achieve IILP goals. Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and occupational performance within the school Collect data for decision-making and progress monitoring. Write comprehensive progress reports twice per academic year (term 1 and term 3). Schedule direct services using a variety of service delivery models, including classroom intervention, consultation/collaboration and pull-out sessions as appropriate to meet student needs in the least restrictive Maintain easily accessible and accurate student files. Safeguard confidentiality of student records. Complete logging of services for third party reimbursement accurately and in a timely manner. Monitor and reassess the effects of specific occupational therapy intervention and the need to continue, modify, or discontinue services. Adapt and modify environments, equipment, and materials. Train instructional staff to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible.
3 Manage inventory of therapeutic equipment. Attend reconvened Team meetings and parent-teacher conferences. Participate collaboratively with multi-disciplinary educational teams to develop International Individualized Learning Planns (IILPs), write measurable goals and objectives, and complete all required documentation in a timely manner. Assist in the development of appropriate IILPs based on students strengths and needs and demonstrate awareness of professional performance. Plan, coordinate, and conduct educational trainings for staff, parents, and students. Participate in professional meetings and workshops directly related to the Occupational Therapy. Provide family members/ guardians with the knowledge and tools necessary to carry over therapeutic activities at home. (consistency) Perform related work as required.
4 PERSON SPECIFICATION JOB TITLE Occupational Therapist (part-time) QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor s Degree or higher from an accredited occupational therapy program Registered Occupational Therapist Knowledge of sensory motor integration techniques EXPERIENCE 4 or more years working as an occupational therapist multidisciplinary team work SKILLS Native Speaker level in written and spoken English Ability to provide dynamic, motivational, learner centred, therapeutic sessions High level of communication, therapeutic and presentation skills High level of time management skills Ability to teach/coach/supervise extracurricular activities Ability to show initiative and contribute new ideas Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. Experience teaching and/or working in an international school with students with special needs. Experience of working with students with ASD. Experience of working with students with learning difficulties. Experience working outside the UK Experience of International Education Ability to speak other languages
