2 Work Smart: Make and Answer Lync Calls Use the tips in this article to use Microsoft Lync 2010 communications software to place and receive Lync calls, and collaborate over video and conference calls. Learn how you can contact a person from almost anywhere you see that person s picture. Find the person you want to call by typing his or her name or number in the Lync 2010 search box. 3 Adding Contacts Type in the last name of one of your CELD colleagues, e.g. wetters into the Contact Search Box That person s name will appear below the search To add that person (and any other person) to your contact group, click on the Plus button to the right of his name In the dropdown menu, click on Add to New Group Type a name for the group, e.g. CELD-Team Type Name in Contact Search Box Click + Button Here

4 You can continue to add contacts to you list, following the procedures above.

5 Call a Contact To call a contact, do the following: Open Lync, and find the contact you want to call in your Contacts list or by typing his or her name in the search box. Point to the contact, and then click the Call button. For more information about searching for contacts, see Use Lync 2010 Search.

6 Start a Conference Call A Lync conference call involves more than one person. To start a conference call: From your Contact List, in the Lync main window, select multiple people by holding down the Ctrl key while you click each contact. Right-click on the selected contacts, and then click Start a Conference Call. Click Lync. A new window will open, and your call will begin to connect.

7 Starting an IM Session Send an instant message to a contact or group In your Contacts list, point to the contact or group, and wait for the contact card to open. In the contact card, click the IM button. Contact Card IM Button Add Audio to an IM Conversation If you are in an instant messaging (IM) conversation with someone, in the conversation window, click the Call button and then click Lync Call. Add Video to IM conversation While in an IM conversation, you can start a Video Call by clicking the Video button and then selecting Start a Video Call.

8 Add another Person to a Call If you are in a Lync call already, click the People Options menu, and then click Invite by Name or Phone. You can also add another person to a call by clicking and dragging his or her contact card from your contact list into the conversation window. Participate in a Video Call Sometimes it really helps to see someone when you talk to him or her. Lync lets you turn your audio call into a face-to-face conversation. If you have a webcam, you can set it up in the Lync - Options dialog box. Although you need a webcam to make a video call, you do not need one to receive a video call. In addition, other callers will not see you unless you add your own video feed to the conversation. If you are in a conference call in a room with a panoramic video device, it is easy to project video of the room to remote participants. Connect the device, make sure it is selected as the audio device, and then add video to the call. Join a video call If you receive a video call from one of your contacts, in the notification, click the Video icon to see and hear the person calling you.

9 Add your video feed to the call In the conversation window, click the Video button and your video (if webcam is installed) will start and will be seen by others in the video call. You will then see your webcam image in the lower right corner of the video window and if the person you are talking to has video enable, you will see their video too. Other Persons Video Your Video

10 Manage your Conversations Do you need a reminder or want to carry on from where you left off? The Conversations list displays your current and past call, video call and IM conversations, as well as missed instant messages. To manage conversations, do any of the following: Click on the Conversations Icon Double-click a past conversation to reopen it. Switch between All, Missed or Calls by clicking the appropriate item.
