9 Types Of Molds & Potential Health Effects Many types of molds exist. All molds have the potential to cause health effects. Molds can produce allergens that can trigger allergic reactions or even asthma attacks in people allergic to mold. Others are known to produce potent toxins and /or irritants. Potential health concerns are an important reason to prevent mold growth and to remediate/clean up any existing indoor mold growth." 15 What is Infrared Thermography? Infrared thermography is the technique for producing an image of invisible (to our eyes) infrared light emitted by objects due to their thermal condition. 19 Basic Principals of Dehumidification The rate of evaporation is determined by : Humidity Temperature Air Movement Permanence of the material Benefits Dehumidification drying can save Dehumidification drying can save soft goods, paper products and other valuables Can also save structural items such as drywall, baseboards, solid wood flooring etc. 16

20 Most Important Aspect of Restoration: Controlling Humidity Humidity increases dramatically after air movers are installed A Drying System is Out of Balance When a Dehumidifier Cannot Keep Up With the Rate of Evaporation 17

21 A Drying System is Balanced When it Dehumidifies as Fast or Faster than the Rate of Evaporation Refrigerant Units Pulls humid air over evaporation coils (works by condensation) Work best at warmer temperatures, high humidity and on porous materials Low Grain Refrigerant Latest technology Conventional Most jobs are best served by the refrigerant system 18
