5 Facilitative Leadership Skills for Mobilizing the Community Facilitative Leadership Skills for Mobilizing the Community is an instructor-led professional development course. It discusses what is meant by the term facilitative leadership in the Red Cross context, as well as the challenges associated with being a facilitative leader. Participants examine some of the theories and practices relevant to facilitation and then apply them to situations in which they are asked to mobilize the community. Role plays that center around working with stakeholders and partners give participants a chance to apply models for interest-based problem solving and intervention. Mobilize the Community Overview (Required) online Collaborating Essentials (Recommended) FANS-Serving People with Functional and Access Needs in Shelters Serving People with Functional and Access Needs in Shelters (FANS) is a basic level, web-based course that is designed to give participants an overview of functional and access needs, techniques for assisting people with functional and access needs and introduce related laws and guidelines. Feeding Fundamentals Feeding Fundamentals is a basic level course that is available in two formats: web-based and instructor-led. The course introduces the tasks and responsibilities of feeding workers during a disaster operation. Both formats cover the same content. Participants have the option of choosing the format that is best suited to their learning preferences. This fact sheet describes both formats unless otherwise indicated. At the end of the online course, participants are required to take a quiz and pass with a score of 80% or higher to earn a course certificate. Classroom participants must attend the entire course and complete the classroom activities to earn a course certificate. No assessment is required.

6 Forklift Fundamentals Forklift Fundamentals is a blended learning, basic level course consisting of a web-based module and an instructor-led module. Module 1 is a web-based, OSHA approved forklift training provided to the American Red Cross Disaster Cycle Services through a licensing agreement with Vivid Learning Systems. Participants will be required to complete a 50 question assessment at the end of this module and pass it with a score of 80% or higher in order to receive their certificate of completion and attend Module 2. Module 2 is a live trainer led course that uses the Module 1 content to deliver hands-on training, including a forklift inspection and operator driving test. These courses meet the requirements to work in Red Cross facilities that are managed by national headquarters or regions on a day to day basis, or one that is opened to support a disaster relief operation on a temporary basis. Because the Red Cross pays a fee for each participant who takes Module 1, it is important that only those workers who qualify for and are in Logistics warehousing or Mass Care bulk distribution be given access to the course. Logistics Overview Government Operations Fundamentals It is critical for the American Red Cross to align its efforts with government during disaster preparedness, response and recovery. In doing so, the Red Cross is better able to provide effective, timely, and seamless service delivery to individuals and communities impacted by disaster. One critical means for aligning with government is by providing Red Cross liaisons to various Government Operations Centers that activate during disaster responses. Government Operations Center Liaisons work in Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) before, during, and after disasters and collaborate with government partners to communicate, plan, and coordinate service delivery to clients and communities impacted by natural and human-made disasters. Government Operations Center Liaison Fundamentals is a web-based course that focuses on what is needed in order to carry out the role of a liaison in a government operations center. This course will present content related to the Government Operations Center Liaison Standards and Procedures document. Participants are required to take an assessment upon completion of the course and score an 80% or higher to earn a course certificate. Note: The instructor led Government Operations Fundamentals course describes how the Red Cross relates to government across all of disaster cycle services. It touches on operation centers, but the content covers broader government operations. The liaison course is specific to working in a Government Operations Center. Collaborating Essentials
