1 Position Reports to Brand Manager Marketing and Communications Manager Company Synlait Milk Ltd Date: December 2012 Location 1028 Heslerton Road, Dunsandel, Canterbury Purpose To be Synlait Milk s brand champion, developing and implementing the company s brand positioning strategy including branded programmes and sponsorship, driving brand awareness through the creation of robust brand collateral in line with the brand positioning strategy, and ensuring Synlait Milk s brand and reputation is managed and protected at all times. Key Performance Areas Leadership Relationship Management Responsibility is taken for being the brand champion, leading and managing the development and execution of the brand strategy for Synlait Milk. Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders. Develop and maintain relationships with key industry contacts. Brand Management Develop and maintain Synlait Milk s brand positioning strategy in conjunction with the Marketing and Communications Manager, General Manager Nutritionals, and General Manager Ingredients. The Synlait Story is nurtured, developed and maintained. Lead the production of brand related collateral and materials and/or the integration of brand messages into business activities and initiatives. Brand Manager December 2012 Page 1 of 6

2 Key Performance Areas Develop brand resources including still and moving imagery and logo development. Lead the development, execution and management of Synlait s branded programmes. Work with internal stakeholders to develop branding which supports and enhances the emotional connection employees have with the business. Work closely with contracted design and advertising agencies to develop Synlait Milk s brand experience. Provide advice and guidance to the business on all brand matters. Sponsorship Management Develop and implement a sponsorship plan which aligns with Synlait Milk s strategic direction. Lead and manage all sponsorship activity within the annual budget allocated. Regularly review and assess the effectiveness of current sponsorship. Investigate and recommend any new sponsorship opportunities for Synlait Milk to consider as appropriate. Compliance/Risk Management Comply with all relevant company policies and delegations. Participate actively in the development/maintenance of the Synlait Risk Management Framework and ensure relevant risk mitigation strategies are implemented and maintained. Identify and remedy any health and safety hazards and report any incidents Projects Lead and manage business unit projects and crossfunctional projects as required and within scope/budget. Undertake specific analysis and investigations at own initiative and as directed, to enhance business profitability in an accurate and timely manner. Brand Manager December 2012 Page 2 of 6

Remain abreast of current industry related trends, practices and disciplines and undertake regular updates in either competency training or changes in law as required. Keep up-to-date and demonstrate awareness of relevant legislation and best practice. Build networks with relevant organisations, professionals and associations. Experience: 5-7 years experience in brand management and/or marketing and the development of brand identity. Business to Business and CRM experience essential with Business to Consumer experience highly regarded. Public relations, digital management/marketing, marketing, collateral development, social media, stakeholder and community engagement, sponsorship, and internal/external communications. Can work at both strategic and tactical levels. Development of effective marketing communications strategies with measurable outcomes. International market experience preferred but not essential. Strategic planning and project management. Dairy, primary or agricultural sector experience is preferred. Brand Manager December 2012 Page 5 of 6
