Admission Information Admission criteria for clients coming to the Fahrman Center are centered around the need for recovery from addiction. Criteria Diagnosis of addictive disease and/or referral through a contract entity Adult, capable of self-care and self-direction Mental health issues which are secondary to the addiction and are well managed Medically stable, not in need of medical detoxification or ongoing nursing care Meet criteria on UPC for residential inpatient treatment or transitional residential treatment Pregnant women are given first priority for treatment Able and willing to participate in treatment milieu Able and willing to participate in educational/vocational requirements in transitional residential treatment First Choice for Recovery
Admission Information (Cont.) Admission Procedure Upon admission, each client meets with an intake worker to complete necessary documentation such as demographic information, emergency contacts, admission and treatment agreements, and releases of information. The intake worker will take as much time as needed to thoroughly explain the programming offered, the program expectations, the physical layout of the facility, and to answer questions. Each client is immediately assigned to an individual counselor. Newly admitted clients will begin the treatment process on the first day of admission, which includes participating in groups and other activities and getting to know their peers and staff. The assigned counselor will meet individually with each new client within the first 24 hours of admission (unless admission takes place on a Friday), and all counseling staff is available to any client if there are immediate needs or concerns which are better addressed individually rather than in a group setting. Within the first three working days, each client will assist the counselor in formulating an individualized treatment plan to address specific life areas which are impacted by addiction. Funding The Fahrman Center contracts with nearly every county in west central Wisconsin, and many individuals seeking treatment are able to access funding through their county Department of Health and Human Services. We work with many insurance companies, and also accept self-pay. For individuals with no other means of funding, we are sometimes able to assist in accessing resources which may not be well-known to the general public.

Statement of Philosophy Our core philosophy is based upon a partnership with the individuals seeking recovery from addiction, and we provide an atmosphere that is safe, respectful and confidential. The Fahrman Center takes great pride in using the method or approach that meets each client s specific and individualized needs. We guarantee to do whatever it takes to enhance the avenues that will allow clients to find recovery, success, and contentment. Each client at Fahrman Center has his/her own personalized treatment plan with goals created specifically for that individual. The most important voice and driving force in the recovery effort is that of the client seeking our services, and we utilize techniques and research methods to insure that this voice is heard and respected. The focus at Fahrman Center is on recovery from addiction. In order to provide the most comprehensive recovery environment, we utilize various types of therapy including Rational Emotive Therapy, Individual Therapy, Group Therapy, 12-Step Recovery, Family Programming, Interactive Journaling, Yoga, Music Therapy and Art Therapy. In keeping with our mission to provide services that fit the needs of each individual, we have a variety of other approaches as well, as the need arises.
Specialty Groups The Fahrman Center offers a variety of speciality groups that incorporate a holistic, experiential approach. A sampling of these groups includes: Yoga Groups are designed to enhance mood and to help maintain a sense of well-being. Yoga also encourages clients to evaluate and consider their physical self within the healing and growth process. The group offered allows for a variety of skill levels. Art Therapy groups incorporate two different modalities. The first provides therapy through creative art mediums, increasing coping skills for life stressors through new creative outlets. The second provides an atmosphere for learning new hobbies and creating gifts to share with friends and family. Music Therapy teaches deep relaxation techniques for stress, sleep and anger management. The therapy groups also promote and teach an understanding of how music can connect to one s emotional well-being, how to use music as a natural high, and how music can be a tool to communicate.
Specialty Groups (Cont.) Recreation/Fitness Programs are incorporated with Fahrman Center programming to assist clients in developing ideas for sober fun, to assist with an outlet for stress reduction, and to encourage clients to work as a team. In addition to two exercise rooms and a fully equipped recreation area, we have an outdoor recreation area that includes a walking track, frisbee golf, a half-court for basketball, horseshoe pits, and a volleyball court. In addition, we take residents to community events each week. These activities may include a semi-pro baseball game, concerts, theatrical productions, or a trip to a local park. The purpose of these activities is to assist clients to reconnect with activities that will promote both new and healthier relationships, as well as broadening their horizons in terms of finding new activities and interests in recovery. Exploring Spirituality Group provides a format for clients to discover their life s meaning, direction, purpose, and connectedness to other things, people, the past and the future.
Treatment Modalities & Additional Services Primary Treatment This service is designed for individuals who are in need of help stoping the disease process of addiction. Primary treatment is 21 days in duration, with treatment days beginning at 7:45 a.m. and continuing until approximately 7:45 p.m. During the course of each day, residents are involved in a variety of activities including multiple groups, individual therapy, educational sessions, and speciality services. The focus is on the individual and their addictive process, with the goal of exploring a wide variety of means to achieve successful recovery. Transitional Residential Treatment (TRT) TRT provides a halfway house type environment, and is designed for individuals who have completed primary treatment at Fahrman Center or elsewhere. The focus of programming changes to include a total lifestyle change, with residents continuing to participate in groups and individual therapy, but also beginning to build a network of recovery supports in the community. This includes work, possible vocational or other educational opportunities, new leisure activities, and community supports to enhance the recovery experience. Many residents choose to utilize the step groups in the area; for those who do not choose this type of recovery, similar supports are built into their recovery process with assistance from our experienced counseling staff.
Treatment Modalities & Additional Services (Cont.) Focus for the Family Addiction is a family disease. Fahrman Center embraces the treatment philosophy that the entire family needs assistance in order to promote successful recovery for all. Focus for the Family educates family members on the disease concept and offers a wide variety of supports for everyone affected by addiction. Services are offered in individual family sessions, in weekly educational sessions, and in the one-day Family Program, offered every 3 weeks. There is no fee for this important service. Continuing Care Weekly continuing care groups are offered for all residents who have completed any phase of the Fahrman Center. These groups focus on sustaining recovery and assisting participants in navigating their lives back in the community. There is no cost for participation, and residents may engage in this service for 6 12 months. Recovery Houses Residents who complete treatment at Fahrman Center often find themselves without a stable place to live. Fahrman Center offers 3 Recovery Houses, with residents paying only a low monthly rent. Qualified applicants for these homes are those who have completed treatment, are employed, committed and active in their recovery, and willing to follow basic house rules.
