Mi vida (Lección 2) Teacher Lesson Plan - Week 6 Grades 5-6 Note: Remember to keep words/phrases like, por favor, gracias, de nada, hola, adiós, etc. on wall each week Activity Instructions Materials Warm up: Greet Students Cómo estás?, Cómo te llamas? in pairs Cómo se llama él/ella? Introduce De dónde eres? Soy de. Lesson Begins: Alphabet Review Practice Listening hay, indef. articles Introduce Lección 2 Vocabulary Play Hangman in Pairs Review Lección 1 Verbs Envelope Card Game Greet the students, Hola, Buenos días! or Buenas tardes! Students ask and answer in pairs, Cómo estás? and Cómo te llamas? Randomly ask, Cómo se llama él/ella? Students raise hands to answer. Point to and say, De dónde eres? Students repeat. Say, Soy de. Students repeat. Answer question and see if they guess meaning. Practice asking and answering round robin. Read the alphabet aloud together from books. Quick review vowels. Talk about ll sound. Think of words together that use ll Quick review sounds of j, ñ. Students listen to sentences below and say sí or no if they would be true. Read Lección 2 Vocabulary from book p. 11 aloud. Students repeat each word. Have students raise hands to change each word to use an indefinite article. See if students can say some sentences using hay and new vocabulary. Pass out flashcards. Have students get up, move around room asking for someone else s flashcard using, por favor, gracias, de nada. Play Hangman in pairs to guess new words using Spanish letters. Pass out dry erase squares and markers, or use scrap paper. Students can leave books open to p. 11 and can look at alphabet p. ii. Together conjugate verbs top/down. Write on board as students say. Play Envelope Card Game. You can use the cards below. Go to Curriculum Activities for instructions. Have questions and answers on board. Each week have Cómo se dice? Se dice. written on your board so students can use in class. Spanish for You! books sentences below Spanish for You! books Lección 2 vocabulary flashcards *Remind students the meaning of hay. Spanish for You! books dry erase squares dry erase markers materials as per below - keep for use again

3 Closure: If you have time, Around the World Play Around the World using Lección 1 verbs. Use cards in English. Go to Curriculum Activities for instructions. Envelope Card Game Materials One large envelope per group You can make your own handwritten cards on index cards cut in half. OR you can print the cards below on card stock and cut out.
