12 New in OBIEE : Hadoop Connectivity through Hive MapReduce jobs are typically written in Java, but Hive can make this simpler Hive is a query environment over Hadoop/MapReduce to support SQL-like queries Hive server accepts HiveQL queries via HiveODBC or HiveJDBC, automatically creates MapReduce jobs against data previously loaded into the Hive HDFS tables Approach used by ODI and OBIEE to gain access to Hadoop data Allows Hadoop data to be accessed just like any other data source (sort of...)

16 OBIEE Roadmap : Planned Data Sources : From Oracle Openworld 2013 Greater diversity of relevant data sources required for analytic applications, e.g Big Data, Cloud, Social Cloud requires re-thinking of where data is accessed from, i.e. on-premise or through the public Internet Planned data source abstraction project will provide an Open API to extend the BI Server source support Plug in any data source that can be accessed via Java to the BI Server Will not require code changes to the BI Server to add a data source API will support both internal and third-party development Key benefit is the ability to rapidly respond to new data source requirements

17 OBIEE Roadmap : Thin-Client Data Modeler: From Oracle Openworld 2013 Requirement for a tool strategy that supports both Cloud and On-Premise metadata development Thin-Client Modeler to be delivered with BI Cloud Service v1 Web-based tool designed for the business user Masks complexity in creating a model with Admin Tool Thin-Client Modeling tool planned for Fusion SaaS Future goal is to deliver thin-client tool with comparable functionality to replace the legacy Admin Tool

23 Also - Full Essbase Cube Spin-Off in OBIEE More of a developer preview at this stage, but OBIEE logical SQL command CREATE CUBE provides ability to create whole Essbase ASO or BSO cube from RPD Rather than just a single aggregate slice One for the future - full OLAP data mart automation?

35 OWB, ODI and Oracle Database Data Integration Tools OWB 11gR2 was the final (new) release of OWB, now in maintenance mode New release just out with support for Oracle Database 12c Oracle s plans are to bring OWB + ODI functionality together in ODI12c Part of a wider set of DI tools including EDQ, GoldenGate Migration utility or process from OWB to ODI (details to follow) Likely to incorporate flow-based mapping approach from OWB Likely release at end of 2013?
