Additionally, the program includes an Eligibility Specialist position to assist and monitor entitlements, disability applications, and other benefit programs. The program also includes two Clinician III positions. One serves as the Eastern State 1 These callers are redirected to Emergency Services, directed to the emergency room, or offered a crisis appointment within 24 hours due to an urgent or emergent behavioral health crisis PAGE 1 OF 8

2 Hospital Liaison, manages the Discharge Assistance Program, and oversees forensic services including jail case management services. The second Clinician III provides oversight of the Peer Support Services which includes one full-time employee and plans to hire a part-time employee. For the month of February the Mental Health Case Management program had a total caseload of 336 with 19 admissions and 5 discharges or transfers. The average caseload for a case manager is approximately 34 individuals. For the month of February there were 10 NGRI (not guilty by reason of insanity) clients on conditional release in the community. Number of outpatient cases managed in February 93 Number of children who received face to face counseling 52 Number of new referrals for February 17 Child and Adolescent Case Management The Child and Adolescent Case Management program provides Medicaid funded targeted case management, FAPT funded case support services, high fidelity wraparound services, clinical PAGE 3 OF 8

4 care assessments, juvenile competency restoration counseling to children with mental health needs. Number of targeted case management cases 73 Number of FAPT case support cases 14 Number high fidelity wraparound cases 3 Number of clinical care assessments 1 Number of CJS residents receiving case management services 10 Total number of cases managed in February 101 Chesapeake Juvenile Services (CJS): The Child and Adolescent Unit provides psycho educational groups, individual counseling and case management services to residents in the juvenile detention center. Number of residents serviced in February 51 Number of new admissions 42 Number of groups provided 10 Number of individual sessions provided 12 Number of unplanned face to face contacts 7 Number of crisis intervention services (TDO) 0 Number of Post Disposition residents 5 Number of new referrals/intakes to CIBH 0 Number receiving psychiatric services from CIBH 3 Court Services Unit (CSU): This program provides a clinician to work at the CSU providing assessments and screening, consultation, psycho-educational groups and short-term counseling services to children and youth who are involved in the juvenile justice system. The CIBH and CSU supervisors continue to work together to expand this program in order to serve more court-involved youth. The clinician will begin offering a Mental Health Education Group for parents beginning in March. 5 Therapeutic Day Treatment Enrollments: 36 Schools Referrals total: G.A. Treakle Elementary School 2 7 Camelot Elementary School 4 2 Hugo Owens Middle School 3 14 Thurgood Elementary School 3 PACT (PROGRAM FOR ASSERTIVE COMMUNITY TREATMENT): The PACT census for February was sixty-seven. There were no admissions or discharges during the month. Four individuals were hospitalized at local psychiatric hospitals, and three individuals were hospitalized at Eastern State Hospital. One individual was incarcerated at the Chesapeake City Jail, and one individual was incarcerated at the Tidewater Regional Jail. In the month of February PACT had two individuals attending Tidewater Community College and one individual taking classes at Old Dominion University. Two individuals obtained employment or remained employed during the month. PACT had three individuals residing in Shelter Plus Care housing in Portsmouth; seven individuals with Housing Choice (Section 8) vouchers; five in assisted living facilities; three residing in a boarding home and two individuals residing in Virginia Supportive housing programs for the homeless. PSYCHOSOCIAL REHABILITATION SERVICES (COASTAL CLUBHOUSE): Staff facilitated Leisure, Medication Management and various Educational groups. The Men s and Women s groups met weekly during the month of February and this month, members led the Men s Group. The volunteer group made over 100 tray favors for Chesapeake Regional Medical Center and for Greenfield Retirement Center. The weekly trips to the recreation center also continued. Members coordinated the News You Can Use and Community Empowerment meetings with minimal support from staff. Members also continued to participate in Adopt-A-Spot activities at Lakeside Park. Bookend Café: The café earned $ for the month of February with 2 days at the end of the month not being reported. This is $ above the January 2016 revenue figure. This figure is also $ more than the sales total for February 2015 which was only $ SKILL BUILDING: The Mental Health Support Services program has a program supervisor, one licensed senior clinician and four full time clinicians providing services to a population of 37 seriously mentally ill adults. There were no admissions and one discharge in the month of PAGE 5 OF 8

6 February. The Medication Management case coordinator had a caseload of 149 individuals with no individuals being admitted or discharged in the month of February. The Telepsychiatry clinic was run entirely with the assistance of three volunteers and two student interns. There are two telepsychiatry clinics on Mondays and Tuesdays, one full-day clinic on Wednesdays and one half-day clinic on Fridays. Capacity evaluations, which are required for individuals seeking authorized representatives and possibly taking steps to obtain a guardian, are coordinated through the senior licensed clinician assigned to this program. There were no referrals for Capacity Evaluations in February. INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY CASE MANAGEMENT: February 2016 Total Referrals: 7 New Referrals: 4 New School Referrals: 0 Inappropriate Referrals: 2 Reopened Cases 1 Pending Assignment: (entered in Credible but not assigned to CM) 4 Pending Intake: (assigned to CM but not registered) 0 Requested Addition to the Statewide Waiting List: 1 Active Case Management (CM) 323 Facility Monitoring 7 Admitted: 2 Discharged: 0 Number of individuals transitioned from residential facilities to the community 0 The following is an update on Individual Service Authorization Requests (ISARs). This is the procedure utilized to access ID Waiver services. ISARs applied for in February: 37 ISARs outstanding for February: 2 ISARs outstanding for January: 0 ISARs approved in February: 35 ISARs denied in February: 0 PAGE 6 OF 8

7 Infant Services Unit: New referrals in June: 36 Currently serving: 233 Admitted: 29 Discharged: 27 Being processed for admission: 51 Pending screening/intake: 0 PREVENTION UNIT: Prevention Services staff, in partnership with Chesapeake Public Schools, participated in the Third Annual Chesapeake Family Night at Greenbrier Middle School. 401 persons attended this community event, including 36 vendors who offered a variety of educational material. Prevention Services staff continues to provide a new program called Students Taking A New Direction (S.T.A.N.D.) for eighth grade students at Crestwood Middle School. It is a pilot lunch program using the evidenced-based Safe Dates curriculum. Prevention Services staff continued Girl Power at Oscar Smith Middle School, Deep Creek Middle School, Crestwood Middle School and Indian River Middle School. Power UP! continues to be offered at Crestwood Middle School. Prevention Services staff continued participation with Communities and Schools. The committee has scheduled four speakers for the fall session, beginning in September. Prevention Services staff met with Substance Abuse clinical staff and provided information on our available trainings and activities. Prevention Services staff continued Life Skills Training to students at Oscar Smith Middle School. Prevention Services staff provided Mental Health First Aid training to volunteers of the Virginia Medical Reserve Corps with 26 persons attending. Prevention Services staff became a member of the Chesapeake Bioterrorism and Pandemic Committee and attended the March meeting. CIBH role on this committee is to coordinate and provide coverage at points of dispensing in the event of a bioterrorism attack, assisting those citizens as needed, with mental health or intellectual disability challenges. Prevention Services staff continues participation on two conference planning committees focusing on Suicide Awareness and Prevention. One is with the Region V Suicide Prevention Taskforce and the second is a partnership with Portsmouth, Norfolk and Virginia Beach Prevention Services and non-profit organizations. PAGE 7 OF 8

8 Prevention staff attended meetings on Substance Use and Prevention Awareness Committee, Children s Ministry, Family Engagement, Commission on Health and Well Being, Out of School Time Committee, Region V Prevention Council, Region V Suicide Prevention Task Force, Chesapeake Family Night Planning Committee, Youth Partnership, Community and Schools Together and Hampton Roads Parenting Education Network. Staff continues to provide information via our March Prevention newsletter. Prevention Services staff initiated services to two new participants in the Nurturing Parent Program.
