1 May Wee Walkers Thursday, May 5, 10-11AM. All Ages. Free. Course # Would you and your toddler like some company for your walks? Join others on an easypaced hike around the park. This is a great opportunity for adults and little ones to meet each other and explore what's happening in nature. Although registration is not necessary, it is helpful so that we can prepare for your visit. Sample Durant Saturday, May 7, 10am-2pm. All Ages. Free. Course # Catch it all in one day: critter stop, bird watching, crafts, nature scavenger hunt, dip netting, canoeing and fishing! Look for the registration table at the preserve s north entrance next to the preserve office. Preregistration requested. Nature and Sensory Play Day Friday, May 13, 10AM-12PM. All ages. Free. Course # Come check out Durant's newest garden: the Sensory and Nature Play Garden! Park staff will have guided activities to delight the senses and encourage nature play. Preregistration is requested. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

2 May Cont. Baby Animals Saturday, May 14, 2-3:30PM. Age: 6-12yrs. $5. Course # It's spring, and baby animals are being born throughout the preserve! Join us as we search for fawns and other baby mammals. We'll also get a chance to peek into a bird nest box to look for hatchlings. Each participant will get to make a craft to take home. Preregistration is required at least four days in advance of program. Frolicking Fawns Tuesday, May AM. Age: 3-5yrs. $3. Course # It's spring, and baby animals are being born throughout the preserve. One special animal we see is fawns! We will read a storybook about fawns and then go on a walk to look for signs of fawns in the preserve. After our walk we'll make a fawn craft to take home. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attend free. Preregistration is required four days in advance of program. The Night Shift Friday, May :30PM. Age: 6yrs. and up. $3. Course # A whole new world comes alive when the sun goes down. See what animals are active at night as we go in search of owls, bats, fireflies, deer and more! Fee applies to all participants. Parent or guardian must register and accompany child.

Course # Join the competition to create the most fabulous fish! Each family will get to work as a group to invent a type of fish out of upcycled materials and craft supplies. When we are done crafting our fish, we'll go see what minnows we can catch in the lake. Preregistration is required at least four days in advance. Parent must register and accompany children. Beavers Are Busy! Tuesday, June AM. Age 3-5yrs. $3. Course # Come listen to a cute story about a beaver looking for a friend. After our story we'll walk along the lakeside in search of beaver signs. Participants will make a beaver craft to take home. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attend free. Preregistration is required four days in advance of the program.

4 June Cont. Fun with Fireflies Friday, June PM. Age: 5yrs. and up. $2. Course # You know it's summer when the fireflies are lighting up the night sky. What better way to spend a summer evening than learning all about these fun, flying, flashing insects? Participants will make a firefly catcher and spend time catching fireflies for closer inspection. Fee applies to all participants. Adults must register and accompany children. Beaver Fever Saturday, June :30PM. Age: 6-12yrs. $5. Course # Age: 6-12 yrs. Catch the fever - beaver fever - as we take you on a hike looking for signs of beaver in the park. We'll do a fun dress-up activity to help us learn about the cool adaptations beavers have, plus we'll make a beaver craft using unique recycled materials.

What better way to spend a summer afternoon than fishing? Join us for a quick lesson before we send you out to catch 'the big one.' Fishing poles and bait will be provided. Fee applies to all participants. Adults must register and accompany children. Amazing Ants! Tuesday, July AM. Age:3-5yrs. $3. Course # Come join us as we investigate these awesome creatures. We'll observe an ant mound and learn about what goes on in an ant colony. We'll also make a craft and learn a new ant song! Children must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attend free. Preregistration is required four days in advance of program.

6 July Cont. Bear Necessities Saturday, July PM. Age:6-12yrs. $5. Course # Do you think the preserve has everything a bear needs to survive? Look at the world through the eyes of a black bear while we take a hike around the preserve. We'll talk about what a black bear eats, how they interact with each other and how much space they need to live. Preregistration is required at least four days in advance of the program.

We'll practice making debris shelters and talk about what we might need to survive here in the preserve. We'll end by gathering around a campfire and roasting a marshmallow. 8 August Cont. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle - Story and Craft Tuesday, August AM. Age: 3-5yrs. $3. Course # Eric Carle's classic book about a very hungry caterpillar and his tasty journey through the days of the week will be our featured story in this fun program about caterpillars. After our story, we'll take a short walk in search of caterpillars and butterflies and then make a cute craft to take home! Children must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attend free. Preregistration is required four days in advance of program. Durant Family Campout Friday-Saturday, August PM-10AM. Age: 6yrs. and up. Adults: $20; Youth: $15. Course # Families gather for an overnight experience complete with a naturalist-led night hike, a light Dutch oven dinner, s'mores for the kids, breakfast and time for fishing and boating in the morning. Your gear will be hauled by vehicle to the primitive, lakeside campsite that we will call home for the night! Class fee: Adults, $20 each; youth, $15. Preregistration is required at least four days prior to the program.
