3 History of Veterinary Medicine in Afghanistan In Afghanistan it has been traditional to use the horse as a mode of transportation. The horse has been used during war times as well.

4 Continued Buzkashi is an ancient game played using horses in Afghanistan

5 In 1919 because of the war with the British, many horses suffered injuries. This resulted in a shortage of horses, so the government sent some army students to Turkey for veterinary education. Continued

6 Continued In 1961 one of those army veterinarians went to the president, who agreed to establish a veterinary college in Kabul. This college is the primary veterinary faculty in Afghanistan.
