Students will experience a deep analysis of the contemporary hotel typologies, the latest hotel design trends and information regarding materials, furniture, and lighting. The course offers a deep exploration of the extensive and complex field of Interior Design within the hospitality industry and the way it is changing and evolving. COURSE OBJECTIVES The course will enable participants to understand the combination of aesthetics, functional and operational aspects to design successful hotels. LEARNING OUTCOMES _The ability to solve design problems, including the skills of problem identification, and information gathering, analysis, generation of alternative solutions, and evaluation of outcomes. _The ability to create and develop place and space in response to program and context. _An understanding of basic Hospitality Design business practices, including the ability to organize design projects and to work productively as a member of a team. _Be comfortable with an iterative creative process, as well as presenting work for, and participating in, individual and group critiques. _Gain knowledge and skills in the use of basic tools, techniques, technologies, and processes sufficient to work from concept to finished project.

2 COURSE OUTPUT ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS LIST OF MATERIALS AND TOOLS to be brought by students Students will develop a series of Research and Presentation Documents including: Research and Definition of Typologies of Hotels Research and Documentation _ Hotel Case Studies Development of Design Strategies for Hotels Design and Presentation _ Themes to be Decided In general the course is addressed to students who have completed at least two years of university/academic studies (BA) in the field of Design or in any related fields. Students that already participated in Interior Design II can be admitted to this course. required Laptop USB Key (flash drive) Digital Camera Sketching materials _2d Design Software ( Autocad, Archicad, Vectorworks) _3d Design Software (Rhino, Vectorworks, Archicad, AutoCad) _Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop optional _Cinema4d, Maxwell, 3dStudiomax, VRAY or similar ATTENDANCE POLICY COURSE POLICY TEACHING METHODS Class attendance is required for successful completion of the course. Attendance will be taken every class period. On the last day of classes, instructors will issue a Certificate of successful attendance only to all students who completed at least 80% of the course. The Faculty of NABA takes Academic integrity seriously. Instances of academic dishonesty such as plagiarism won t be tolerated. Mobile phones will be kept switched off all the time during class. Use of laptop during classes for personal purposes is forbidden. Lectures, studio work, field trips.

Norton, 2012 The Meaning of Home: Edwin Heathcote TEACHER/S SHORT BIO Tim Power Tim Power was born in Santa Barbara in In 1985 he graduated in Architecture from California Polytecnic University. In 2005 he graduated in Architecture with a laurea magistrale from the Milan Polytechnic. In 1997, Tim Power founded Studio Power as an Architectural, Interior Design, and Industrial design firm. Prior to opening Studio Power, Tim Power collaborated for many years in the offices of Superstudio and Sottsass Associati in Italy as well as a variety of firms in California. In 1996, Tim Power opened Studio Power design has designed Interior projects for numerous private clients in the Art, Fashion and Advertising worlds Studio Power designed industrial products, furniture and home goods for numerous European, Asian and North American companies. Installations and cultural activities include the Biennale of Art in Venice (German Pavilion 2000), the 1999 Biennale of Design (St. Etienne) and advisor for the Biennale of Architecture (2000, Radical Section). In 2010, TIm Power opened TP/A _ TIm Power Architects. Work has been shown in Milan, Florence, San Francisco, New York, Barcelona, Tokyo, London, Cologne and Venice and published in the leading Architectural and Design journals and books.
