2 - Institute of Human Resource Advancement (IHRA) Executive Diploma in Disaster Analysis & Management EDip in DAM EDip in DAM programme helps in strengthening of the capacity of individuals to reduce the impact of disasters through enhancing their knowledge and skills to promote and adopt disaster reduction practices as an integral part of the development process at community, national, sub-regional and regional levels. It provides a range of learning opportunities to disaster managers who wish to include knowledge of disaster management in their on-going professional development. The Objectives of the Programme Provide comprehensive knowledge on disaster Analysis and Management To create a group of educated individuals who are capable of handling almost any type of disaster To provide the knowledge in disaster prediction and risk reduction This course has been developed in cooperation with national disaster organizations such as Disaster Management Center (DMC), United Nation Development Program (UNDP), National Building Research Organization (NBRO), University Ruhuna and Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. Programme Structure and Duration This programme consists of course work and a research project. Course work will be conducted over a period of two semesters of 15 weeks each. The entire programme duration will be about 15 months inclusive of 3 months for the research project. Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 24 credits of course work is required for the programme in addition to the 6 credits allocated for the research project. Programme Eligibility Candidates should be proficient in English which will be the medium of instruction for the programme. The minimum requirements for enrolment A- Three/ Four passes at GCE (A/L) examination (preferably in science-based disciplines) as the case may be in one sitting in any scheme with minimum of five years Executive level experience in Disaster Management or related field which is accepted by the institute AND B - The candidate should sit a selection test and/ or face an interview conducted by the Institute for selection to the EDip in DAM and reach the qualifying standards as determined by the Institute.
