Known Issues This chapter contains any known issues and workarounds. 4

9 1: Getting Started Polycom RealPresence Media Manager is an industry-leading, enterprise-class platform for managing and delivering video and multimedia content. It is used by major universities and other education institutions worldwide. Blackboard Learn 9.1 platform is a learning management system used by education institutions worldwide. By integrating these two powerful solutions at the API-level, institutions can combine the video content management power and flexibility of RealPresence Media Manager software with the learning management environment of the Blackboard Learn 9.1 platform to create an integrated education solution for instructors and students. With this integration, institutions using the Blackboard Learn 9.1 platform can schedule delivery of video and multimedia content to their Blackboard Learn environments from their RealPresence Media Manager software and associated content servers. This integration also enables authorized users to upload multimedia content into the RealPresence Media Manager software solution directly from a Blackboard Learn browser session for use on a Blackboard Learn course page. Using either configuration, this integration streamlines the flow of content from source to RealPresence Media Manager software for comprehensive management and distribution, to the Blackboard Learn course catalogs for instructors and students to view. The integration of RealPresence Media Manager version 6.5 software and the Blackboard Learn 9.1 platform leverages the new RealPresence API in RealPresence Media Manager software version 6.5 and uses the IMS Global Learning Consortium s Learning Tool Interoperability (LTI) standards. This guide will show you how to integrate RealPresence Media Manager software and the Blackboard Learn 9.1 platform to work together for content delivery. Note: Interoperability Between Versions Polycom has tested the integration of RealPresence Media Manager software versions 6.1 and 6.5 with Blackboard Learn 9.1 SP10 software. Consult with Polycom and Blackboard before upgrading either system after implementation of the integration to avoid potential incompatibilities. Content sources compatible with RealPresence Media Manager software, include but are not limited to: Polycom RealPresence Capture Station 6.0 (or later), or Capture Station Pro 6.5 (or later) appliances Polycom RealPresence Media Editor version 6.0 (or later) software Polycom RSS 4000 version 8.5 or RealPresence Capture Server appliances Video files in RealPresence Media Manager software-compatible formats, including, but not limited to, Windows Media, and H.264/MPEG-4. Admin Tip: Supported Operating Systems and Browsers Administration of RealPresence Media Manager software requires installation of the Admin Tool on a computer running Microsoft Windows 7 or Windows 8. About the RealPresence Media Manager Software Integration with the Blackboard Learn 9.1 Platform The RealPresence Media Manager 6.5 software integration with the Blackboard Learn 9.1 platform enables instructors to complete two core tasks: 2

11 Authorized administrators can schedule publish content and schedule events from RealPresence Media Manager software to selected Blackboard Learn course catalogs. For example, a RealPresence Media Manager software administrator, or advanced user, can schedule an upcoming live event, such as a webcast, to appear on a Blackboard Learn course page. When the scheduled upcoming event becomes available, students can access the content by clicking a link in the associated course page in the Blackboard Learn 9.1 platform. Authorized users can upload content from a Blackboard Learn browser session into a RealPresence Media Manager software portal for use in selected Blackboard Learn course catalogs. For example, instructors, or students with permission, can log in to the Blackboard Learn 9.1 platform on their Windows PC or Mac using their Blackboard user name and password, and upload a video they recorded on their mobile device. In the background, the video is uploaded to the RealPresence Media Manager software from the Blackboard Learn 9.1 platform. The RealPresence Media Manager software ingests and transcodes the content, and then publishes a link to play the content from the selected Blackboard Learn course catalog. Settings: LDAP and Single Sign-on You must configure Single Sign-on in both the RealPresence Media Manager software and the Blackboard Learn software to enable instructors and students to log in using their Blackboard Learn user names and passwords. If you have configured LDAP in the Blackboard Learn software, you must configure the corresponding LDAP settings in the RealPresence Media Manager software to ensure that student and instructor logins are recognized.
