Make the most of saving online with the Molson Coors Retirement Savings Plan Introducing My Money Friends Life s online savings
Introducing My Money We all like spending our free time doing the things we enjoy. But sorting out our savings and planning for our financial future doesn t quite have the same appeal. That is why Molson Coors Brewing Company (UK) has selected My Money from Friends Life to provide you with a pension with online access. My Money has been chosen to help make it easier for you to plan and save for your future. You can easily manage your pension online using a single login, which lets you: View your annual statement, other documents and correspondence Decide how much you want to save Plan how much income you need in retirement and check if you are on track to achieve this View and update your personal contact details You re in control Your financial information is private to you and you have access to it wherever and whenever you choose. You can continue using My Money if you change employment. Add in other personal or State pensions to build up a total picture of what you could expect to receive View your contributions and transactions Change your contributions 2
Designed for life Whether you re just starting out in the workplace or you re getting closer to enjoying your retirement, there s one thing that we can all agree on: life is better when you have the time to do what you want and even better when you have the money to enjoy that time. It pays to start saving early Retirement may seem a long way off, but it makes sense to start saving early. Molson Coors Brewing Company (UK) will pay contributions into your pension in addition to any you make. Contributions are outlined for you on pages 4 and 5. So putting even a little money aside now could make a difference by helping to provide you with a better standard of living in retirement. The value of the Flexible Retirement Account is not guaranteed and can go up and down. You could get back less than the amount paid in. Make the most of saving online with Molson Coors Brewing Company (UK) 3
Contributions Molson Coors Brewing Company (UK) contributions Molson Coors Brewing Company (UK) will pay contributions in addition to any you make. The more you pay, the better chance you will have of getting the income you need in retirement. To receive Molson Coors Brewing Company (UK) contribution of 3%, you will have to contribute 3% which will be by salary exchange unless you let Molson Coors Brewing Company (UK) know that you do not wish to participate in the salary exchange scheme (salary exchange is sometimes referred to as salary sacrifice). Contributions will instead be deducted from your net salary. Please see page 5 for an explanation of salary exchange. The table below shows you how your contributions into the pension along with Molson Coors Brewing Company (UK) contributions, combine to make a valuable difference to your savings. Your contribution (% of pensionable salary) Molson Coors contribution (% of pensionable salary) Total contribution Meets PQM Standard 3% 3% 6% - 4% 4% 8% - 5% 5% 10% - 6% 6% 12% 3 7% 7% 14% 3 8% 8% 16% 3 8+% 8% 16+% 3 Your contributions Your contributions will be paid from payroll and will be a fixed percentage of your earnings so your contributions increase automatically in line with your earnings. Molson Coors Brewing Company (UK) will deduct your contributions from your earnings and send them directly to Friends Life. You can make additional contributions and also pay one off lump sums of at least 500. You may be entitled to transfer the value of existing pensions into your Molson Coors Retirement Savings Plan. There is no guarantee that by doing this you will increase your total benefits and we suggest seeking professional advice from a financial adviser. Please refer to the Key features document and the Fees and charges brochure for further information. Should you leave Molson Coors Brewing Company (UK) you can continue to make contributions from your own bank account. 4
What is salary exchange? Salary exchange is a way to make contributions to your pension and can help make saving for retirement a little more affordable. Molson Coors Brewing Company (UK) has chosen to offer you a salary exchange facility (this is sometimes known as salary sacrifice ). This is an arrangement between you and Molson Coors Brewing Company (UK). You agree to give up part of your salary and, in return, Molson Coors Brewing Company (UK) pays this directly into your pension (along with the additional employer contributions they are making). It means that you do not pay income tax on the amount you exchange, giving you the same tax benefits as if you made the contributions yourself, but you do not pay National Insurance Contributions (NICs) on the amount exchanged either, meaning contributions cost you less. You need to be aware that salary exchange may affect your entitlement to certain state benefits that are based on your income. Income protection payments and the amount of money you can borrow can also be affected. For more information on salary exchange please speak to Molson Coors Brewing Company (UK). Make the most of saving online with Molson Coors Brewing Company (UK) 5
Tax and other benefits of a pension Why is it used? Where can money be invested? Can money be withdrawn without notice? Tax relief on personal contributions? Tax free cash at retirement? Tax free interest and investment income? Free of Capital Gains Tax? Tax efficient way of saving for retirement Funds which in turn can invest in shares, property, fixed interest and money markets Money can usually only be accessed from age 55 and used to provide pension and death benefits Yes You do not pay any income tax or national insurance on the amount of salary you exchange for employer pension contributions 1 Up to 25% of your pension benefit can be taken as a tax-free lump sum with the balance being used to: purchase an annuity; or provide for flexi-access drawdown 2 You can take a lump sum from your pension fund. 25% will be tax free and the remainder will be subject to income tax at your marginal rate No tax is payable on income or capital gains made by the investments, but 10% tax is deducted from UK dividends and this tax cannot be reclaimed Yes Note Tax rules may change. The value of any tax relief or benefits depends on the financial circumstances of the investor. For further information please see the Key features document and the Fees and charges brochure. 6
