7 12 13 Rental boroughs London has the highest average rents of any global city at 2,083 pcm, having grown by 4% last year, but there are wide variations across boroughs. The strength of the market reflects a huge surge in the number of renters in the capital over the past decade. This increase in renters has driven the emergence of a new breed of rental property: build to rent schemes. There are now 328 such schemes under construction in London.
