Teacher, coordinator of module, subject or course: Dr. Mrs. Mercedes Carmona Martínez Brief description of the subject This subject explores the legal aspects of sports organizations in Spain, and analyzes the considerations that affect the decision making within sports entities. The legal issues are discussed and examined based on the current context of the sports market, all of which is done from the perspective of a sport professional and an amateur. In particular, it addresses themes such as sports regulations, workers rights, athlete contracts, development policies or the organizational structure of sports entities. Prerequisites No prerequisites are considered. Objectives of the subject 1. To respond to the current needs of the sports phenomenon, amongst which includes the specialization of sports management professionals in each of the specific areas of sport. 2. To understand, manage and interpret advanced legislation and regulations in the subject of sport, which govern the relevant national and autonomous sports organizations, in terms of sports planning, organization and the range of services relating to public and private responsibilities in sport. Competencies and results of learning General competencies G1: To acquire skills through the teaching-learning process that enable the continuation of training and learning in the field of sports management in order to establish contacts with teachers and professionals, in an independent manner. 4 Specific competencies S1.- To understand the basic principles of finance that are applied to sports entities. S2.- To revise the different models of existing sports management in Spain. S3.- To understand and manage the current legislation in sport on both a state and a regional level. S4.- To understand and manage the current legislation in human resources and sponsorships on both a state and a regional level. S5.- To understand the different styles of management, the fundamentals of competency management, knowledge mangament and talent management. S6.- To understand and manage the concepts of delegation, leadership and institutional communication. Results of learning (RL3) To determine the appropriate type of legal organization of the sports entity. (RL4) To determine and differentiate the different types of sponsorships in sport. Relationship with other subjects in the curriculum This course is closely connected to the module of Fundamentals of Sports Management. Evaluation system Examinations in June/September: - Assessment of workshops, exhibitions and discussions in class: 30% of the final grade. - Assessment of final work and work dynamic developed in the seminars: 70% of the final grade. Examinations in September/October - Theoretical-practical part: 100% of the final grade. Bibliography and reference sources Basic bibliography For the purpose of the bibliographical sources being as up to date as possible, they will be delivered at the beginning of the Master s and with sufficient time to be consulted. 6 Course recommendations Attend the classes and participate actively. Focus efforts on understanding the content of the subject. Have in mind the knowledge acquired from other subjects within the module of the foundations of sports management, in order to relate it to the topics covered in the current subject and therefore gain a comprehensive and informed knowledge. Use the established timetable, the Virtual Campus or to consult and share any doubts with the teacher. Consult the recommended bibliography in each subject and not limit oneself to only studying notes taken in class. The presentation slides are a guide to the subject, they are not the notes and it is not the unique content. In written work and tests marks will be subtracted from the final mark for: a) 0.2 for lack of accents, b) 0.5 for slight misspellings, and c) 1 for serious spelling mistakes. Didactic materials The didactics materials which will be used in this subject to facilitate the acquisition of skills are: - Power Point presentations. The teacher will use a guide (not the notes for the subject). The student should elaborate their own notes using all of the didactic materials that are described here. - Scientific articles, which will be shared on the Virtual Campus and will be related to each of the subjects. Forums and social networks (Twitter) will be used to ask questions for reflection and practical application of each of the articles. - Supporting documents, which will also be shared on the Virtual Campus or can be requested by students who search for them via information and communication technologies. - Concept maps and reports forum.
