Position purpose This position is required to conduct high-quality research in cyber security, high-quality teaching in cybersecurity and related IT areas, and to perform a range of administration roles, as required by the Faculty. Key result areas and responsibility Level B Research Conduct high quality research in a relevant area and contribute to the development of the Cyber Security research flagship. Publish papers in high-quality, high-impact peer-reviewed conferences and journals. Provide high-quality co-supervision of higher-degree research students. Contribute to the preparation of research proposals to external bodies. Obtain competitive research funds and industry funding Contribute to intra-faculty, cross-faculty and cross-institutional research collaborations. Teaching and Learning Prepare and deliver high-quality lectures, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops and studio sessions in units taught by the Faculty of IT for both undergraduate and graduate courses. Perform high quality subject coordination, marking and assessment, and consultation with students. Contribute to student academic counselling and pastoral care of students. Deliver short courses aimed at a wider audience beyond courses at Monash. Supervise major honours or postgraduate research projects or theses. Internal Service Undertake a range of administrative functions, relevant to teaching and research. Participate in and contribute to faculty meetings, committees and activities. External Service Contribute to the co-operation in cyber security with external entities, such as other Australian universities and industry partners. Review papers for conferences and journals. Assess theses completed by students at other institutions. Participate in the professional aspects of the discipline of information technology including professional societies and consultancy activities as appropriate. 2

3 Level C Research Establish a strong, individual and independent program of research and conduct high quality research in a relevant area and substantially contribute to the development of the Cyber Security research flagship. Publish papers in high-quality, high-impact peer-reviewed conferences and journals. Provide high-quality supervision of higher-degree research students. Lead and contribute to the preparation of research proposals to external bodies. Obtain significant competitive research funds and industry funding Establish and maintain intra-faculty, cross-faculty and cross-institutional research collaborations. Teaching and Learning Lead the preparation and deliver high-quality lectures, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops and studio sessions in units taught by the Faculty of IT for both undergraduate and graduate courses. Perform high quality subject coordination, marking and assessment, and consultation with students. Provide leadership in teaching programs and curriculum development Contribute to student academic counselling and pastoral care of students. Internal Service Contribute to the administration of the Faculty s teaching and research activities Propose and develop strategic initiatives for the Faculty Actively participate in and contribute to Faculty and University meetings, committees and activities. External Service Establish and maintain the co-operation in cyber security with external entities, such as other Australian universities and industry partners. Review papers for conferences and journals and participate in Program Committees of quality conferences. Assess theses completed by students at other institutions. Actively participate in the professional aspects of the discipline of information technology including professional societies and consultancy activities as appropriate. 3

4 Key selection criteria Level B A Level B academic is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the university and to carry out activities to maintain and develop her/his scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the profession or discipline. Essential 1. A PhD in a relevant discipline of information technology Knowledge and Skills 2. Strong record of scholarly publications in refereed journals and conferences in one or several of the following areas: Security of advanced networking infrastructures (VNF, SDN, etc.) Cross-layer security (from physical layer up to applications, including meta-data) Secure roots of trust and trust management for IoT, critical infrastructures, virtualization Interdisciplinary cyber security Resilience of IT-based infrastructures IoT with cyber security focus (automation, robotics, sensors/actuators, etc.) Software security Mobile security, Android, ios Forensics, cyber-crime, forensic readiness 3. Demonstrated record of successful collaboration with colleagues and internal stakeholders. 4. Demonstrated capacity to independently and effectively conduct lectures, tutorials, assessment and examination marking in relevant unit areas, and evidence of teaching quality (e.g., student evaluations, peer review, innovations in teaching delivery). 5. Experience supervising and mentoring postgraduate students. 6. Demonstrated ability to obtain external funding for research. 7. Desirable: A record of innovation in education. Level C A Level C academic is expected to make significant contributions to the teaching effort of a department, school, faculty or other organisational unit or an interdisciplinary area. An academic at this level is also expected to play a major role in scholarship, research and/or professional activities. Essential 1.
