1 NEW JERSEY New Jersey Commission on Science and Technology PO Box 832 Trenton NJ (609) (609) FAX OVERVIEW NJCST, established in 1985, is responsible for the development and oversight of policies and programs promoting science and technology research and entrepreneurship in New Jersey. Programs include: Small Business Innovation Research Bridge Grant Program The purpose of the SBIR Bridge Grant program is to increase the success and maximize the growth of small New Jersey companies in moving from Phase I to Phase II. The program supports New Jersey s technology industry by awarding grants to entrepreneurs who have both, applied for Phase II funding and who have been identified as potential Phase II SBIR/STTR awardees. This program will sustain small businesses through the funding gap which occurs between completion of the Phase I grant and the initiation of a Phase II award. SBIR Training and Assistance In order to better serve small business by guiding them through the SBIR application process, statewide SBIR comprehensive training sessions will be offered. Training sessions will be full-day informational and outreach sessions developed and organized in part with Randy Harmon and the Small Business Development Center. In addition to the general sessions, one-on-one counseling will be provided during the training sessions. Additional grant-writing seminars will be offered at various locations around the state throughout the year. Edison Innovation Research and Development Fund The Edison Innovation R&D Fund will provide funding in the amount of $100,000 to $500,000 to New Jersey technology companies for proof-of-concept research and development activities and ancillary activities necessary to commercialize the identified technology. Companies are encouraged to partner with a New Jersey PhD granting university or with a company or institution with a primary business location in New Jersey. Please note that NJCST does not require a fee to process this application.
2 Edison Innovation Clean Energy Fund: The grant provides funding in the amount of $100,000 to $500,000 to New Jersey technology companies, for demonstration projects and developmental and ancillary activities necessary to commercialize identified renewable energy technologies and innovative technologies that significantly increase energy efficiency. This grant will fund technologies that can demonstrate their integral nature to the development Class 1 renewable energy technologies that produce or support the production of renewable or clean electricity generation. The salary funding levels for Technology Fellowships are $65,000 for the first year and $75,000 for the second year.
