2 TH ROYAL BRITISH LGION JOB DSCRIPTION POSITION: RPORTING TO: Branches & Trust Accountant Senior Branch & Trust Accountant ROL PURPOS: Maintaining accurate records of Branch, Trust and County funds. Produce Consolidated Accounts for the Legion s Branches and Trusts. Improve financial control of Counties, Branches and Trusts through the promotion of LOMAS Report on results of over 2,500 branches with assets in excess of 27 million and income in excess of 4 million. Manage investment and recording of Branch and Trust funds KY RSPONSIBILITIS Maintain accurate records in SUN enabling aggregation of the Annual Returns (Accounts) of Branches, Groups and Counties Review the Returns, obtain clarifications and resolve queries with the help of field staff & county officers. Assist internal and external auditors to co-ordinate the Branch Audits. Provide assistance to Branches and Counties on procedures for completing Annual Returns and maintaining branch accounts including LOMAS. Provide accounting reports on the results and assets of Branches and Counties both for preparation of consolidated accounts of The Legion and to assist in the management and supervision of Branch and County finances. Administer and maintain Branch Fund Initiative (BFI) accounts ensuring correct accounting for funds and accurate reporting. Prepare bank account and Trust control account reconciliations on regular basis. Update relevant ledgers with interest /dividends received for Branch and Trust funds and distribute statements as required. In respect of Legacy Trusts: - effect all bank and investment transactions - maintain accurate records on SUN - reconcile ledgers with bank statements Produce regular statements of account for each trust and aggregated management reports. Report on Trust balances and highlight opportunities to improve investment returns on Trust Funds. Manage investment of Trust funds in line with agreed policies Review and improve Annual Accounts forms, procedures and guidance instructions for Branches and Counties. In respect of Branch Property Trusts:
3 - - Support the Restricted Funds Accountant to maintain accurate accounting records - Support Branch Treasurers to fulfil their obligations - Provide full accounting and administration service to the independent Charitable Trusts (IST, Samsung, etc) including attendance at Trustee meetings to present financial information and accounts and advise on financial matters. Prepare year end financial statements for the independent Charitable Trusts. nsure timely response to queries and requests from county and branch officers, referring policy matters to the Finance Management. Review current availability and use of reserves within branches and counties. Prepare reports with recommendations on how these may be utilised in the best interest of the charity. Prepare financial reports from the database in preparation for County Budget meetings. Any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the post and its grading as requested by the line manager or Head of Department/Division. Note: This job description reflects the present requirements of the post. As duties and responsibilities change and develop the job description will be reviewed and be subject to amendment in consultation with the post holder. 4 CRITRIA QUALIFICATIONS PRSON SPCIFICATION SSNTIAL/ DSIRABL HOW MASURD; Application/Certificate/ Assessment/Interview Degree level education or equivalent D Application/Certificate Part qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA) XPRINC D Application/Certificate Relevant and appropriate experience in a financial role with responsibility for posting journals, preparing reconciliations and maintaining accurate accounting records xperience of working in a financial role in a charitable organisation Previous experience in a financial role in a large and complex organisation with multiple stakeholders COMPTNCIS ffective Communications Level 2 Interview Planning and Organising Level 1 Interview Teamwork - Level 2 Interview Ability to Influence Level 1 Interview Customer Focus Level 2 Interview SKILLS & KNOWLDG Computer literate, particularly with MS Office, including spreadsheets and accounting packages (preferably SUN) Able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail mpathy with Legion Mission and Values Interview D Application/Assessment Application/Assessment/ Interview
