We re proud to be the only UK IT hardware manufacturer to operate its own in-house recycling and refurbishment facility (fully licensed by the Environment Agency). Our recycling department has experienced considerable growth and acquired a unique position within the IT Asset Disposal (ITAD) industry. We re delighted to be ADISA Certified with Distinction against the enhanced ITAD Standard positioning us at the top of the market as the only hardware manufacturer globally to have achieved this exclusive status. We understand the risks associated with breaches of data protection and operate with best practice to safeguard you from the 500,000 fines which the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) can impose. The entire disposals landscape has developed rapidly and to such an extent that we also recognise the dynamic landscape of end of life IT and the increasing need to recover value. 5 IT ASSET DISPOSAL SERVICES 05 Data Erasure & Destruction Protecting our customers obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998 is the singular most important aspect of our activities. To help us achieve this we partner with Blancco, the global market leader in data erasure software. Blancco is data wiping software which we use to 100% destroy the data on your IT assets prior to refurbishment for re-use, parts recovery or IT recycling. Using this technology we ensure that all data (employees, customers and brand) is protected. We re the only UK OEM manufacturer to pre-install Blancco as standard on every PC. Value Recovery Assets for which there is a resale market attract a rebate, allowing us to return a share of our market value back to the customer. This is our commitment to offering what we believe to be the best value IT disposal service available to the UK public sector. To this end we recently created Encore a range of second life equipment which has been thoroughly tested, cleaned and re-imaged with genuine Microsoft Windows operating systems. Remarketing For assets with higher recoverable value (generally less than 3 years old), we re able to act as a remarketer and will attract the highest market prices possible for your used or end of line equipment. A variety of commercial models are available for this service, including our unique 100% asset value recovery service of which full details are available upon request. Recycling We operate a fully-equipped IT recycling facility for equipment that is broken, incomplete or too old for recovery, our ability to comprehensively recycle and recover the constituent elements. Since inception in late 2008, our Recycling department proudly maintains a zero landfill policy. Refresh & Renew Service We re fully conversant with the terms of Microsoft s End User Licence Agreements but understand that some customers may opt to either donate redundant IT to charity or make it available for resale, either to staff or through other outlets. To manage this process compliantly, we offer this pioneering new service. Equipment is collected and processed through our systems, erasing all previous data. The HDDs are then cleaned, tested for functionality and electrical safety before being re-imaged with a new Microsoft Operating System of the customer s choice, repackaged and returned. The Out of the Box experience is then identical to that of a brand new computer.

6 ACCREDITATIONS & PERMITS Providing a comprehensive ITAD service today requires something of a multi-faceted skill-set. For total environmental compliance one of the requirements is for a full Environmental Permit. This differs significantly from operations trading with T11 and S2 exemptions. In simple terms, our recycling facility is the end of the line for goods unable to be recovered we have a processing facility that separates the constituent elements and returns them back into the most appropriate sector for re-use. We operate an Approved Authorised Treatment Facility (AATF) under Environmental Permit Number EPR/GP3196LY. We also recognise the importance of total control throughout the entire chain of custody required assets. Consequently all staff are directly employed, wear uniforms and carry photo I.D in addition to being security cleared to a minimum of the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). We operate our own fleet of collection vehicles, all of which are equipped with mobile communication links, alarms/immobilisers and GPS tracking devices. We re also registered as a producer of WEEE, Hazardous Waste and Batteries and are happy to provide these registration references if required. We re fully committed to the work of the UK regulatory body ADISA (the Asset Disposal & Information Security Alliance). We re also proud to be amongst the elite group of ITAD operators to have achieved Pass with Distinction against the ITAD standard. 7 07 INFORMATION ASSURANCE The Asset Disposal and Information Security Alliance We re a founding member of ADISA, an industry-wide alliance of experts formed to address a number of security and compliance issues within the IT Asset Disposal arena. Asset Disposal is defined as: Any situation or circumstance where an IT asset leaves the direct control (whether temporary or permanent) of the asset owner or data controller and comes under the direct control of a third party for downstream processing and management. Examples of disposal are end of life, warranty replacements, vendor trade-in, end of lease and WEEE disposal. The ADISA Board includes representation from all disciplines involved within the area of IT asset disposal and debates legacy, current and future issues in this area. As a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher we re also ideally placed to produce the most professionally refurbished hardware available anywhere in the country. This status allows us to reinstall legal, genuine operating systems at a fraction of the cost of those purchased for new hardware. The used IT market is extremely dynamic and to ensure you recover maximum asset value you need a partner with their finger on the pulse. We have our own sub-brand of refurbished hardware called Encore and market this through our existing team of account managers and dedicated online e-commerce portal. Finally we also have very well established connections within the UK and Europe where an appropriate global broker ensures where possible we match the recovered equipment to its most suitable reuse market.

9 09 EMPLOYEE PURCHASES Recruiting and maintaining the best staff in today s competitive world is difficult. We ve recognised this and have adapted aspects of our ITAD offering to make a positive contribution. Many organisations have faced the dilemma whereby particular staff members seek to purchase end of life IT hardware for either themselves or relatives. Whilst superficially a relatively straight forward option in reality the process is fraught with risk. The operating system and other software installed may be subject to volume or site licensing agreements. What happens to any corporate data that may be stored on the device? How do you ensure a sense of fair play by ensuring all staff receive the same chance to purchase? We can help by offering key organisations Employee Purchase Programs. Hardware is collected and processed in the normal way undergoing comprehensive data erasure and refurbishment. It s then imaged with a clean installation of a suitable operating system before being made available to all of your staff through a dedicated portal within our online web-store to which only your employees have access. By negotiation we can add some form of warranty on the products! This is proving a very popular HR tool, particularly as it demands no resource from within the organisation and can be seen as a no-cost option.

10 CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Our commitment to giving something back. With an abundance of perfectly serviceable computers that no longer meet the specification requirements of markets in Europe and a desire to find a vehicle that would derive best possible usage from them, we became the Premier Sponsor of an outstanding UK charity called IT Schools Africa. This includes a long term commitment to donate substantial quantities of used computer systems for them to distribute to the various projects they run in numerous African countries including Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Tanzania. This fantastic work puts IT in front of children that would otherwise grow up not knowing what a computer was and whilst we manage the sponsorship we feel it s really a co-operative arrangement on behalf of the many customers for whom we provide our recycling service. To reflect this we can issue Certificates of Appreciation and customers are entitled to display these with pride as recognition of the role they have played in the project. Get IT Schools Africa was chosen as our charity of choice only after evidencing the work they do, providing extensive financial data and also illustrating the arrangements they have in place for environmentally friendly disposal of the equipment at the end of its secondary life.
