You will work on an EU-funded EMMA project, which is creating a MOOC aggregator platform, which will be used to deliver a series of MOOCs. You will work with others in the Institute of Learning Innovation, you will coordinate the Leicester activities for the project, including ensuring that MOOC developers are on track in terms of uploading content, leading on the evaluation of the MOOCs, participation in project meetings and dissemination activities, and writing project reports and deliverables. The purpose of the post is to coordinate EMMA project activities, including overseeing Leicester EMMA project activities, this includes the development, delivery and evaluation of the Leicester MOOCs, Leicester project management activities, participate in project meetings (both online and face to face), writing reports, providing input and writing interim reports and contributing to final report, presenting research findings at conferences, and contributing to research publications. Deflects the technology- or VLE- driven narrative in the universities in the area of e-learning and instead addresses e-learning as a business and pedagogical development opportunity associated with positive change. Promotes the possibilities of research into teaching across all departments and subjects. Engages academic staff in research projects to introduce learning technologies and new pedagogies into their own teaching. Provides a well-informed forum for discussion of e-learning strategy and choices. Provides a forum and a focus for publications in the e-learning, distance-learning and pedagogical fields. Provides a forum and good support for preparing income-generating bids and resources. And provides an arena for demonstration and discussion of new internal and external developments. The purpose of the post is to coordinate EMMA project activities, including overseeing Leicester EMMA project activities, this includes the development, delivery and evaluation of the Leicester MOOCs, Leicester project management activities, participate in project meetings (both online and face to face), writing reports, providing input and writing interim reports and contributing to final report, presenting research findings at conferences, and contributing to research publications. Principal Accountabilities Coordinate EMMA project activities, including overseeing Leicester EMMA project activities, this includes the development, delivery and evaluation of the Leicester MOOCs, Leicester project management activities. Organise, coordinate, and participate in project meetings (both online and face to face), and carrying out follow-up activities. To develop, plan and undertake new methodological research or new applied research projects. Plan for specific aspects of research: if given a particular hypothesis to examine, plan for own contribution up to three months ahead, incorporating issues such as resource availability, deadlines, project milestones and overall research aims. Organise data and results so that they are easily accessible to colleagues; Carefully monitor and check results; Write up research findings for publication and dissemination: this will include taking primary responsibility for drafting some research papers, and contributing as a junior partner to the authorship of other research papers. Write grant applications with assistance and advice (where agreed with line manager) and to make specific contributions to the writing of grant applications; Advise other staff and students; Attend team meetings and other relevant meetings; Writing reports, providing input and writing interim reports and contributing to final report, presenting research findings at conferences, and contributing to research publications. Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience Essential A completed doctoral degree in a relevant cognate area (e.g., E-learning, Education, Learning Technology) Excellent technical skills and knowledge, in particular in relation to the use of technologies for learning, and knowledge of a range of learning technologies, such as: Adobe Connect, Blackboard, Coursesites, Moodle, itunesu and MOOC platforms etc.* University of Leicester 4 27 May 2014
