3 Introduction Computer Associates (CA) is one of the world's largest IT management software providers. CA envisioned providing mobile access to the Timesheet module of the Clarity PPM tool to its internal users. Clarity PPM Smartphone Application implemented the Timesheet module of the Clarity PPM s enterprise project and portfolio management solution on mobile devices. Business Challenge The key business challenges were to mobile enable the timesheet entry process making it simple to use and to enhance the productivity of users. Technically this translated to building a Mobile (iphone/ipod, BlackBerry) based solution that would allow users to: The PPM solution enabled mobile access to the timesheet module of the Clarity PPM tool thereby increasing productivity of users Access timesheet from mobile devices as per their defined roles Mobile Enabling Clarity Project Portfolio Management(PPM) 1

4 The solution allowed users to update, save and submit timesheets with Real-Time Synchronization with the desktop application Endeavour s solution Scheduling of tasks at the back end for generation of premium bills Endeavour s Role Automation of business processes Submit, modify and delete timesheets from their mobile devices which would then get immediately reflected in the web application Perform each task effectively based on assignments Enablement of Clarity administrator to get a holistic view irrespective of the activity being performed on the mobile or web browser Solution Clarity PPM mobility solution helps users access the timesheet module of the Clarity PPM tool on their mobile device and use functionalities like update, save and submit for approval. 5 The mobile enabled Clarity PPM module facilitates: Online Access Access to the timesheet module on the mobile device Real-Time Synchronization with the timesheet module available on the desktop application Benefits The benefits presented by the solution were: Simplified workflows and enhanced productivity with location independence Managing resources and reacting to change more effectively thereby facilitating planning and execution Time saving with on the go access to timesheets Mobile Enabling Clarity Project Portfolio Management(PPM) 3
