I have announced the appointment of Joe Gilmore to the position of Director of Finance / Treasurer. Most recently, Joe was the VP of Finance and Administration at Crown Golf Properties. During his twenty plus year career, has held various positions in Finance, including internal auditor, analyst, operations manager, and controller. His annual salary is $125,000. I have announced the appointment of Jeff Sorensen to the position of Fire Chief. Jeff began his career with Park Ridge in 1997 and has been the Deputy Fire Chief since His annual salary is $130,000. Recommendation: 1. Motion to approve appointment of Joe Gilmore as Director of Finance / Treasurer 2. Motion to approve appointment of Jeff Sorensen as Fire Chief. Sorensen has spent his whole career, and furthered his education, in the fields of fire rescue and emergency medical services. He became a certified EMT-A (Basic) in 1992 while studying at the University of Illinois-Champaign. He later received an Associate Degree in Fire Science Technology from William Rainey Harper College in 2001, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Science Management from Southern Illinois University in 2003, and a Master of Science Degree in Public Safety Administration from Lewis University in August of He is a native of Arlington Heights, having graduated from Buffalo Grove High School. He moved to Park Ridge in 1999 and still resides here with his wife, Eileen, and son, Jeffrey. Sorensen began his emergency service career as an Emergency Medical Technician on Chicago's South side and in the South suburbs. In 1995, he was hired as a Firefighter/Paramedic with the Village of Streamwood. In 1997, he left Streamwood and began employment with the City of Park Ridge as a Firefighter/Paramedic. He was promoted in 2004 to Lieutenant and again in 2008 to Deputy Chief. For

3 the last three months, he has served the City as Acting Fire Chief. Sorensen has consistently been involved in helping the community beyond the fire service. In 2012, he was recognized by the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce as a Community Star recipient for his exceptional volunteer service to the community. He is a past President, and President-Elect of the Park Ridge Kiwanis-Morning club, a service organization. He was involved in the past with Park Ridge Baseball/Softball, where he managed his son's teams. He was a past instructor and lead advisor for the Fire Explorer program, which mentors and develops high school aged children who aspire to be firefighters and paramedics. In 2005, Sorensen and Police Officer Mike Luehr started the CERT program in Park Ridge, involving Citizens in disaster preparedness and response. While the promotion is effective immediately, there will be an official swearing in ceremony at a City Council meeting at a later date to be announced.
