Scheduled courses Scheduled courses are specifically designed to meet the educational needs of our broader communities and we are open to all potential delegates. These courses are presented continuously throughout the year. In fact, at any given time we schedule in excess of 100 courses during a three month period. This affords any new delegate the ability to peruse the variety of courses on offer and plan in advance which courses they would like to attend. Corporate solutions Corporate solutions are custom designed for in-house training within organisations. These are client-specific courses which are geared towards companies who need to up-skill their staff. They are strategically developed to address the specific training needs expressed by a particular company or industry. We can design a basic course to introduce your newly appointed staff members to a specific topic, or can provide thought-leading training to your executive committee members. Such courses can be presented on one of the various university campuses, on-site at your premises or at any other chosen venue. e-learning courses 8 e-learning courses are interactive online learning programmes. We recognise that many professionals would like to continue honing their knowledge and skills, but often struggle to find the time to attend formal lectures. Our e-learning courses offer interactive media elements, message boards, forums and online assessments. Accreditation, certification and CPD points CPD courses a CE at UP is wholly owned by the University of Pretoria. The University of Pretoria is a multi-purpose public training provider in the higher education and training band. All delegates who successfully complete a short learning programme and comply with the related assessment criteria, receive certificates of successful completion from the University. We also offer specific courses through which professionals gain continued professional development (CDP) points. CE at UP is a level-2 contributor to broad-based black economic empowerment (B-BBEE). 4 SUPPLY CHAIN & LOGISTICS Supply Chain and Logistics Programme in Supply Chain Management for Junior Practitioners Course number: P The purpose of this programme is to equip delegates with a sound fundamental knowledge base and basic skills regarding supply chain management. Delegates apply fundamental principles, terminology and methods in solving well-defined problems. The programme is aimed at equipping first-line managers with the knowledge and skills required to fulfil their management role within the supply chain. This includes warehousing, transport, inventory, materials management and purchasing. Introduction to logistics Inventory management skills Materials management skills Transport management skills Warehousing management skills Purchasing management skills (Note: Delegates need to be successful in the compulsory module Introduction to logistics plus any four elective modules. CE at UP holds the right to cancel any module should the required number of delegates per module not be met.) Prospective delegates should at least have a National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and/or an equivalent NQF level 4 qualification and two years practical work experience. Advanced Programme in Supply Chain Management for Senior Practitioners Course number: P The purpose of this programme is to equip delegates with a sound fundamental knowledge base and basic skills regarding supply chain management. Delegates apply fundamental principles, terminology and methods in solving well-defined problems. The programme is aimed at equipping first-line managers with the knowledge and skills required to fulfil their management role within the supply chain. This includes warehousing, transport, inventory, materials management and purchasing. Supply chain management Integrated resource planning Human resource management Procurement management Manufacturing logistics Warehousing management Transport management Prospective delegates should have a certificate in Supply Chain Management and/or ten years relevant working experience; Applications for admission must include a portfolio of evidence that will satisfy the assessment panel of delegates acquired knowledge and basic skills; Previous qualifications can also be submitted for evaluation by the assessment panel. Executive Programme in Supply Chain Management for Master Practitioners Course number: P The purpose of this executive programme is to equip top level managers with the skills to participate in strategic management of the supply chain within a multi-disciplinary team. The programme is aimed at providing highly skilled managers with conceptual and strategic skills in a field where critical shortages exist at this level. After completion of this course, delegates will be able to apply integrated supply chain management principles on a strategic management level. Service Management Operations and Strategy Course number: P The objective of this course is to equip service industry employees with the necessary practical skills to manage service operations. Delegates will be taught to understand services, designing the service enterprise and managing service operations, including the role of services in an economy, technology in services, service facility location; forecasting demand for services, managing capacity and demand, managing waiting lines, capacity planning, and service supply relationships. 5 SUPPLY CHAIN & LOGISTICS Hands-on Supply Chain Management Course number: P This course provides delegates with an understanding of how a truly integrated supply chain creates value for the firm, its supply chain partners and its shareholders. Delegates get to tap into a realistic business environment using sophisticated computerised simulation where teams are challenged to run their own businesses and achieve their business objectives. Delegates are taught how to align supply, production, distribution and demand, and then how to run the supply chain process. Fleet Management Course number: P Fuel and fleet costs, e-tolls, driver safety and cost-reduction initiatives are some of the challenges and concerns that face fleet managers. Experts suggest a trained fleet manager could help reduce the cost of running company vehicles by 15 per cent. This course provides delegates with a basic understanding of fleet management principles including vehicle utilisation, whole-life costs, tendering, vehicle maintenance and regulatory requirements.
